Midnight from newport here and a very happy R26 owner

Well at 53 I finally bit the bullet and became a renaultsport owner , ive often wanted something to rekindle those days of the mad n crazy turbo 5 of my youth :cool: and nothing seemed to tickle my fancy until now, tried a few early rs meganes but even though they felt exciting they just seemed very vague and loose to me, then this very cheap (cos needed a few things ) 230 F1 R26 came into my clutches and after a great test drive there was no way I was giving this beast back , now those few things turned into quite a list but the one thing left and the hardest as its like finding hens teeth is the god damn steering rack, ive checked the arms and there good and is definitely the rack, but for the life of me I cant find a decent replacement unless I go to RENAULT and that's an ouch :rolleyes: big ouch, I have been told by a few people and a couple of suppliers that any megane mk2 steering rack will fit aslong as I use my rack arms as the R26arms are longer ????? can anyone please shed some light on this problem I am having, is what the suppliers and a few people say the truth ??? I can buy any mk2 rack without the arms and use my own, otherwise I will have to get my own refurbished and I am reluctant to do that incase it gets lost lol or even stolen in transit, any help peeps would be ever so helpful, I am a aerospace calibration engineer so any help I receive will be returned if you have any gauges or equipment that needs calibrating for accuracy I could do this for free through the ok of the site and there rules of course.
again any help on this steering rack issue would be so helpful. sorry if I have mixed a hi post with a help post .......

Thank you all so much guys and hopefully mark black can sort me out a rack , pics on the way once I clean her and learn how to post em on here, my next job is to ask how to replace my duff radio arial mounts, what a palarver the head lining looks like to get off lol
