Bet it drives like new now, mine did after I had all the same work done, so much sharper now. Probably jinx myself now but I've not had the engine management light come on at all since the flywheel has been on. Weird, could just be luck but I've driven it hard and not even a flicker. Back on topic your car is indeed a great example mate.
Next jobs will be intercooler, decat, injectors and replacing the rest of the front suspension that hasnt been done just for piece of mind.
My mission to make this car perfect has taken another step forward today. I bought some new injectors and a few bits to refresh the aircon once its been regassed. Fitted the injectors earlier and there is a massive difference. Pulls much better than it did before, no hesitation that I noticed and super smooth! Also had a little spur of the moment photoshoot with a friend a couple of weeks ago and this is one of the pics... Link is here if you want to see some more... http://www.rsmegane.com/showthread.php?3326-Little-photoshoot
I've been spending too much time on detailingworld and the ocd levels are starting to kick in... Spent a couple of hours cleaning the arches and painting a few little bits to tidy the wheel wells up. I painted the centres of the HC Brembo discs and did the droplinks after this pic was taken. They're not perfect but alot better than they were!
Great job! Really need to this on mine, you dressed the plastic wheel arches too? I also recognize the part where you spent too much time on DW ;-)
Not yet, I did it at a friends unit so that my neighbours don't think that i've gone insane and I forgot to take a dressing with me. So they'll be coming back off at the weekend to get clayed and dressed with AF Revive
I will be. They're covered in loads of tar, I have an old clay bar that I wont be using now i've bought a clay mitt so I might as well get some use out of it
Got round to cleaning the other arch today and remembered to get a before picture so heres a nice before and after lol. My phone doesnt really show how disgusting it was before but i'm happy its done even though no one else will ever see its clean. Even more parts turned up from Renault this morning. Track rods, inner tie rods, drop links and anti rotation links which will complete replacing the whole suspension setup pretty much lol. Also bought these from eBay for the rear side windows... £12.50. Renault wanted £48!
I've owned the money pit for 2 years today. I'm tempted to work out how much i've spent on it in that time but I think i'd get very angry lol. As much of a pain in the arse that its been, I wouldn't change it. It is a fantastic car imo and hopefully it'll start behaving now. Fitted the stickers I bought the other day to the rear windows earlier. Not sure if I like them or not :/
Will you please stop posting pic's of fresh Reno parts Makes me want to refresh my setup when i see this, let us know how much of a difference it is compared to it now
Noticed this yesterday whilst cleaning the car... Not good. I have just bought a part worn exactly the same, Its even worn the same amount for £30. I wouldn't normally put a part worn on but the Rainsport 2 has been discontinued so its silly expensive compared to what they used to cost and next year these wheels/tyres be retired to winter use only anyway so didnt see the point in paying 3-4 times as much for a new one.
Fitted some HIDs the other day. They're supposed to be 55W 5000k but I'm not sure they are... They look abit too blue to be 5000k IMO. They don't dazzle either like the picture suggests.
Wow,its really a lovely one in silver color,i like it so much and your work on it is really appreciable and everything in it is good and well fixation, its style is also awesome and i love this car so much and your work also and i seek many things from your this project, nice sharing.
Today I fitted the new droplinks and stabilizer links I bought from Adam ages ago. The joys of owning French resulted in some grinder action being required. Seems to have made a noticeable difference though. No more knocking Also replaced the button to lock the door on the passenger side after it stopped working. Didnt get any pictures whilst doing either job
Little mod I did this morning, Its nothing special but its something that annoyed me before. I bought this... And hardwired it behind the dash because I was fed up of running the wires for the sat nav over the dash. Doesnt look bad without the sat nav there either. I'm going to probably replace it when I get my new phone though and use that as my sat nav instead so i'll probably have to do it all again soon lol.
Well as some of you know, the Megane is off the road for winter. Missing it like mad already and it wont be back until March/April. In the mean time I managed to pick these up at a bargain price... No other real plans for it whilst its off the road really. I might get some braided lines and some better pads, the DS2500s have never impressed me really.
They th federals? Been looking at them myself for some budget track tyres i run the ds1.11 pads and there truly awesome, the ds2500 were great on the 197 but from what I read they don't cope with Megane pace and weight apparently
Car looks spot on mate, wish i could do all the bits you have done, although i have only had mine 3 months so there is time. What size spacers have you got on? I have just put some 20mm rear ones on and think it could maybe do with some on the front. Lowering it on some H&R in the next couple of weeks 2 so cant wait to see it abit lower with the wider stance.
Yeah they're the 595 RSRs Dan, I got them silly cheap. About 20 a corner cheaper than I paid for Rainsport 2s when I got them! CB225, I have 8mm on the front and 17mm on the rear.
Not hubcentric. Just longer bolts. They were part of the Jon Seal kit if you search on the other forum...
I've got ps3's all round on mine and I find them great on the road in all conditions but on the track they seem to go off after a while even when playing with the pressures. I saw the 595 on camskill for about 99 quid a corner so I'll give them a try
I had the exact same experience. Perfect all year round on the road, but at Bedford (it was 30c) they went off really quickly, even when adjusting pressure.
5-6 laps and it would start feeling like you were driving on glass, hopefully the RSR's will last a little longer
Bingo, I was exactly the same, I am going to fit RSR's or PSS's next. I also need to fit some front spacers, on full lock the coilover collar just rubs on the tyre side wall
