Got my seats wired in, Nice and warm after about 2 mins so ideal by the time you've de-iced the windscreen! Booked in with Mark Black for Cambelt/Aux/Water pump change on the 16th. Going to get him to look over the car and tell me everything thats wrong with it so I have a definite list of stuff it needs lol. Clutch will probably be next month.
This lot has come in prep for my visit to Mark on Sunday. Brembo HC front discs 175 rear discs with 30mm bearings DS2500s for the front I got off Edinnit on here when he sold his R26 Standard pads for the rear New caliper pins Gulf 5.1 brake fluid Mark is also doing the belts and water pump whilst its there aswell as giving me hopefully just a short list of problems to sort next month when it has the clutch and flywheel changed.
Also forgot i'd done these... Replaced my mats and before they went in, cut some holes for the mounting point things. It always did my head in that my old mats slid around whilst I was driving. Finally put an LED bulb in the glovebox, It was alot easier than I thought and that was the reason for me not doing it sooner lol.
Are there mounting points in the floors of the Mk2 meganes? That pisses me off as well and the fact that renault have put a shitty bit of velcro that is meant to hold it in place, that doesn't.
No points, You get the bits included and you just push them into the floor... I'll PM you the link if you like?
I'll just post it in here in case any one else gets wound up about it lol. I'm going to get some for the passenger side as well I think... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130995144900?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
Just what I've been waiting for! Never knew they sold DIY ones, really is annoying when the mats have a life of their own! Your Meg looks like an awesome example, like all the little touches you've added to it (heated seats etc).
Nice early start this morning to go and see Mark Black. Had my belts and brakes done. The reviews he gets on here couldn't be more accurate, I dont think i'll take it to anyone else now. It needs the clutch sorting out, which I already knew, both wishbones which I suspected, a sump gasket and Mark thinks my cat is knackered (free decat yay). So hopefully next month it'll be as close to 100% again as possible which will be nice So now I need to make the choices with regards to if I want more power, if I want to go SMF, Decat etc etc...
Today I Plastidipped my rear view mirror. Its something thats always annoyed me a little bit about the car since i've had it, it sticks out like a sore thumb from the front lol. I cant take credit for this idea because someone else on here did it but its still a good little mod. I wrapped my subframes in matt black vinyl as well because they were starting to look a little tired. Its not a perfect job but they're a lot better than they were. How my interior currently stands... This also turned up from Paints4u to hopefully touch up a view little stone chips on the front bumper and rear arches.
I was in two minds about retrimming my pillar covers but decided against it for now. Plans for interior are to get the subframes resprayed properly, Respray centre console and glovebox trim, Clio 197 steering wheel, new gear knob and new pedals. Long term i'd like some Recaro Sportsters as well but I have much bigger priorities atm.
You know you've chosen the right car when you're changing stuff like cigarette lighter bulbs to LED for the sake of having something to do to it... Cant wait for the clutch and wishbones to be done, I can actually start enjoying it at its full potential again then!
Doesn't the rear view mirror look much better? I need to order some more plasti dip to do my auto dimming one as I took my old one off so I'm back to cream atm :-(
I've found it to peel super easy. Might look for a dye or something instead. I couldnt get a super clean edge around the mirror either so might look into splitting the mirror next time and taking the glass out.
Its the little bits that make a difference... I bought some silver indicator bulbs for the rear and side repeaters and they turned up this morning. Rears were fine, straight swap. Took the side repeaters off only to find the amber bit was inside the repeater and fitting my bulbs wouldnt make any difference... Now I couldnt have that so off inside I went armed with a stanley knife. I couldnt seperate them and got angry so out came a screw driver and I smashed the insert to pieces and shook the repeater until all the bits fell out lol.
Well after getting massively let down this weekend, the megane still needs all the work i've mentioned before doing and i've had to last minute book its mot on Tuesday. To make myself feel better about the whole thing and since its my birthday I decided to treat myself to something i've wanted since i've been driving. A private plate. The closest I could get to Davo (my nickname) lol. Just need to wait for it to turn up now
Mot sorted for another year. It failed on a brake bulb (same as last year lol) and a gaitor on a droplink. Rather than take it home, order the part from Renault, get Steff to fit it and go back. I asked if they could do anything with it, "Yeah it wont take long and only cost a couple of quid, we'll fit a new gaitor". 90 mins later... £52 bill for the privilege and it was sorted. Oh well. At least its done for another year. Booked in for Clutch/Fly/CSC, wishbones and sump gasket again on the 5th so hopefully it'll get sorted now and behave for a while.
Cheers dude, I'm excited to see your as well after Marv was telling me about it haha. These turned up from Fancyplates today. 20mm shorter front plate to fit the recess better. So happy with them! Just need to wait for the DVLA to sort the transfer out now and they'll be on!
Nah, I dont think so. I like how the rest of the interior looks now. I fitted some footwell lighting like the VAG group have nowadays but i've removed it after a day. Just looks abit chav really lol.
After getting let down with the clutch again, I've decided to buy the parts and get it done local. I bought one of these from RStuning... Solid Lightweight Flywheel I've spoken to Ads about a r26.r clutch, both wishbones and a sump gasket which will be getting paid for tomorrow and bought a Valeo CSC from ECP. Hopefully it all turns up before Monday now!
Some nice new parts turned up today. After getting told by Renault on Wednesday that i'd be waiting 5-10 days I really wasnt expecting to see it all today... RSTuning SMF, R26.R Clutch, Valeo CSC, both wishbones, sump gasket, oil filter and some fresh oil. Also got all the paperwork for my private plate so put that on as well
You might as well do it properly if you're going to do it at all haha. I don't mind chucking money at it because I want to keep it for a couple of years, I just hope it starts behaving properly. Hopefully this will be the last expensive month on "boring stuff" for a while. Currently saving to go to the Ring again in September and i'd like to have 630cc injectors, decat and intercooler sorted before then but we'll see what happens.
Went to see Mr Black today. He fitted my flywheel, clutch, slave cylinder, sump gasket and wishbones. As well as fixing multiple other problems from previous people who have worked on it. The flywheel was seized, Clutch was way passed it and the slave cylinder had collapsed covering the inside of my gearbox in brake fluid... Definitely got my moneys worth out of them lol. Mark was shocked I even made it to the garage. Then he noticed one of my cooksports wasnt fitted correctly so was sorted, combined with the wishbones as well its handling alot better! Loads of bolts were too tight/loose and the gearbox was overfilled by about a litre. Everything is as it should be now though. I didn't really take many pictures but here are 2 of the SMF and clutch fitted... And the inevitable EML on because of the SMF, this will be getting mapped out next month at RStuning.
