Hi All, Just wondering if anyone has set up a Phase 2 (mines an R26) for competition and bent the rear axle to get more negative camber?? I use the car on track days and tarmac rallys and i do like to 'press on'! Front is easy as i have AST adjustable coil overs and top mounts. Set between -2 and -2.5 front tyre wear is nice and even. BUT the rears wear on outside. Standard setup sadly not adjustable so stuck with -1.25. I think I'd need say maybe -1.75 to -2 deg to even up the rears. Some more info: : car built to 'showroom' specs so pretty heavy at 1350 -1400kg : standard R26 wheels 18 x 8 : semi slick tyres standard size 235/ 40 Yoko A050 or im trying nankang AR1 atm! :adjustable AST coilovers all round Anyone able to speak from experience? Thanks Ted from downunder
You probably could shim and make some minor adjustment to correct for any small thrust angle or steering angle coming from the rear, by fiddling around with the beam mounts. Like you say you can't shim at the hubs as they are fixed on these cars. Keep searching around on this forum and the old meganesport as I am sure someone did this in the past, I just can't recall the thread and didn't save the link.
On my old starlet turbo i actually modded a rear beam and cut of the stub axles then bolted them back on with 4 m10 bolts and then added washers to shim it to how i wanted it.worked so well and would love to have rear camber on the megane 2.
I had my rear beam bent on my 225 but not for camber. It was bent for toe as I had a ridiculous amount of toe in. This was done my Heasmans in Sydney. Details in my Ride Thread on OzRS.
Hi Dook yep the Renotech boys told me about yours . Its the only one they've done. Looking for other experiences. I think they have a lot of toe as standard so dont want to change that. It handles well just scrubs outside of rears in tarmac rallies and worse on track days ☹Thanks
Did you get anywhere with this?... also interested to find a way to get -ve camber on the rear of my R26.
