Hi, guys. My first post here. Megane RS 225 with few interesting bits on it, owner since 2020. I am from Baltics, Latvia - Megane RS are non existant here! Uprated cooling radiator for RS 225commute + heavy trackdays? Been struggling with current factory cooling system and coolant temperatures on track days for a while. Climbs insanely high reaching red zone in few laps 3.4km per lap, doing constant cool down laps after 2-3 laps. When commuting warms up brilliantly, never climbs above middle (pic.) Whether my current radiator is gunked (it indeedlooks from date of birth of the car, 2004) and needs new OEM or Nissens type non-oem installation, OR I am checking aftermarket uprated 40mm aluminium radiators (not the expensive ones). Yet I've read on forum that they produce even worse results and even higher temperatures under high load, that's not I am willing to introduce... Like these ones: + changing coolant expansion tank to brand new one. Thinking about getting this radiator: NISSENS 63765A https://www.trodo.lv/dzesesanas-radiators-nissens-63765a Also I am willing to order and install thermostatic oil cooler kit, but I am very concerned about oil pressure decreasing, wont it hurt the engine? How many rows are fine? Any comments highly welcome! Me with my Megane RS:
Hi from sunny Scotland. I run a R26 360bhp, and standard rad, on road, and track, temps never go beyond the center needle. I had exactly the same problem as you on a 197,with an 250 engine, I discovered, the cooling fan was the wrong way around, was sucking from the engine bay out, rather than outside air through radiant into engine bay. Owner before me, spent a lot of money, cooling fins on bonnet, removed grills, nothing worked. Get a tissue, make sure fan is running, if tissue is blown away from the rad, the fan is the wrong way around. I have an oil cooler, and pressures are normal, even on a hot track day. Let us know how you get on.
