After testing it on tracks and on the road, we can now offer you a harness bar for the Renault Sport Megane Mk3 (I would say it fits all Mk3 Coupe models, but haven't tried - yet). Made using only high quality materials using CDS (Cold Drawn Seamless tubing) for superior strength and hardness. I know that for the most of us that use such components, weight is (very) important - that's why we weighted it all and the total weight is ~10.5kg. All bolts are 10.9 How it looks in my Megane 265 Cup Picture with the harnesses (we can provide Sandtler 4-point racing harness according to the latest FIA regulations if you choose that option) in my car while testing them: MANUFACTURING PROCESS CDS seamless tube and pipe is produced by piercing hot billets and subsequent rolling which reduces their diameter and elongates them. This material is then passed through a die and over a mandrel plug to produce an accurate size and gauge which is the essence of the cold drawing process. BENEFITS OF COLD DRAWN SEAMLESS TUBING HIGHER STRENGTH & HARDNESS PROPERTIES Cold drawing increases the strength of the tube therefore making it very suitable for safety and performance critical applications. SIZE ACCURACY Due to the nature of the manufacturing process drawn tubes can be manufactured to close dimensional tolerances, achieving consistent diameter and thicknesses throughout. ENHANCED APPEARANCE Cold drawn seamless tube usually has a shinier look with no weld lines increasing the aesthetics of the products in which it is incorporated. UNIFORM MICRO-STRUCTURE Due to the cold drawing process, CDS has excellent micro-structure uniformity and consistency. EASIER TO MACHINE Due to the superior strength and hardness, it produces a better machined surface and therefore a better-looking component. SUPERIOR FINISH IN SUBSEQUENT MANIPULATIONS As cold drawn tubes have a glossier, no-seam finish they also produce better end products from processes such as dipping, etching and anodizing. COLOURS You can also choose the colour (black glossy or matte, red, white, yellow) you want your harness bar to be powder coated. INSTALLATION Installation is very simple and shouldn't take more than 30-45min for the first time (once you install the side mounts and the seat mounts, you only need to install the bar - 4 bolts, and the harnesses), and 5min every next time if you don't want to keep the bar and use the rear seats. Everything you'll need for the first installation You'll get the "RACE USE ONLY" 2 stickers - I've put them as markers how to rotate the harness bar so I get it right from the first try (saves you time) PRICE The price for the harness bar including powder coating is £429 + shipping SHIPPING It usually takes <10 work days for the parcel to reach the EU countries but due to this Covid19/Brexit situation it might take a bit longer for some countries such as UK/IRL (also additional tariffs might apply). PAYMENT Payment via PayPal as Send money to friends or family or Pay for goods and services but please add a 5% PayPal service fee.
I know you guys do some outstanding work in supply of aftermarket parts for these and other cars and there's certainly a market for a good harness bar for Mk3's but looking at the arithmetic of this structure have say bit concerned at duty expected at the single right angle weld. Have you stress tested this to failure ? The potential load with two adults in a massive head on impact on this single right angle weld and bar could be around 500kgs. Would have expected see maybe a triangular steel plate welded into the corner or an additional strut bar but just relying on a single right angle joint ?? what's your thoughts ??
I know what you mean, but there's no need for extra strengthening because there is no need. The welding and the piping have been done by the specialists that make roll bars/cages for hill races. And we use CDS tubes which can withstand a lot more force unlike the others. A friend of mine has a KTR harness bar in his 197 and it looks similar and the tubes aren't CDS. However, if you still feel there's a need for a triangle at that position, let me know in your order, there's no problem in adding one. We aim to please. I'm at your disposal, as always. Cheers, Rene
Yes that great, think i'd feel safer with either a corner support or a short bracing strut offering strength in two dimensions
Gutted to hear manufacture of these are on pause now due to materials cost rises. if anyone has one for sale, give me a shout.
Hey Keith, are you still looking for a harness bar? Im selling mine, same as Rene posted, only in red
Hi, thanks for letting me know but I got my hands on one couple months ago. Thanks for letting me know though
