Hello, first of all sorry for my English, I use a translator i have megane r26 and i want to put g25-550. but I am afraid, they say that the gearbox is not strong and breaks with more than 500nm I think about putting gearbox megane 3. Any recommendation? Anyone with similar training, have problems with the gearbox? Any advice or help would be appreciated.
Hi, I am running 360bhp/350lb torque, with out any problems on my r26. I try and use the revs, rather than torque, and this will help the longevity of the gearbox. The 250 box will not fit, without cutting parts of the shell, and the 225 box will be fine if looked after.
I was always led to believe that the mk2 gearbox was stronger than the mk3 one. Its possible to fit the mk3 box, i did have a look at doing this when i had my 225, but you need mk2 DCi 175 drive shafts, as the ends that fit into the gearbox are different.
As Ian said you will need mk2 rs 175dci driveshafts, gearbox mount and gear shifter/cables to fit the mk3 PK gearbox, and its a bolt in conversion on mk2 megane. I have one fitted to my rs converted Kangoo. You will need the mk3 clutch setup to suit, paddle or twin plate for that hp. Downsides to mk3 pk gearbox, bearings are weak, rattles with smf flywheel, stock lsd is not that strong (mine is clunking a little bit at 378hp so may need to investigate soon) Mk2 ndo gearbox is good for a lot of power though. 440ft/lb is usually OK. You could get the gearset cryogenic treated.
@Brigsy Thanks That's a lot of info there, i was told it wouldn't go at the time, i couldn't figure out why not but as the 225 box was still working i never look any further into it
hi i have mk3 gearbox installed rs dci transmissions are not worth ppr they are very long I made a custom support since I wanted to use the vibratecnics support use complete mk3 clutch kit with dual mass, ceramic disc from the mk2 that I already had rs dci shifter cables, in my case modified to use cae the subject of transmissions I use several models to use the appropriate length, as soon as I have time I will upload my entire project
