Hi all, First post here, but have found many threads here very useful. Can't see an answer to this one though? My handbook for my 275 (18 inch wheels), says '18" inch wheels cannot be fitted with chains". Is this true? It adds "If you wish to fit snow chains, you must have specialist equipment". Does anyone know what this equipment is? Does anyone know where to buy a compatible set? I'm driving up to a ski resort in France. I know the car isn't ideally suited to this kind of expedition. Anyone else had good/bad experiences with an RS in snowy conditions with chains? Think the French by and large keep the roads pretty clear? Thanks!
Have you looked into getting some snow socks. Don’t you also have to have a full set of winter or all season tyres fitted also
First of all, make sure you run decent all season (with snowflake marking) or full winter tyres. That will get you up 95% of the roads if there is light snow, just take it easy. Else, there are some 'flat' snow chains available, for example Maggi Trak Sport 210. If your car is not lowered, these will probably fit.
