Megane 265 Face lift SD card / USB / Aux socket

Discussion in 'Electrical & Interior - Security, ICE, Wiring Loom' started by Darren Hughes, Feb 10, 2017.

  1. The SD card read has had a wobbly on my car and the maps card will not stay in i.e. it does not latch anymore into the slot. Any idea how to get the unit out that houses the SD card reader / usb / Aux socket so I could get the part number off it and source another... it's annoying as I can't use the sat nave or update the rlink and I think it broke and goosed the card too as it says it is corrupt in the computer now to so I will need to get a new one...

  2. Is it still within the 4 year warranty?

  3. Yes not two yes old yet but already had the dealer say 'that's probably wear and tear sir and not covered under warranty'

  4. Well wouldn't accept that to be honest. It's designed to be taken out and put back.

Maybe call Renault UK and ask the question?

  5. It will come to that but I was wanting to know how you get the sockets unit out.

  6. Hi,
If you have an R-Link or a last generation TomTom Live sat nav unit and you have the SD card in the connection box at the bottom of the screen, then the part you are looking for is: 280234575R. It is also not very hard to take off.
If you still want to do this I can explain.

  7. Yes can you explain removal please

  8. Ok, so:
There are 2 ways in fact:
    1. either you take it out stright from there: meaning you get a screwdriver or preferably a plastic tip and you force the thing out (it will work for sure but you will leave some marks either on the socket either on the dash)
    2. either you get the hole plastic cover in which it is inserted, to be able to get it off nicely. Anyway like this too, you are in danger of braking some plastic bits but it will still be ok.
I keep trying to upload some pictures to make it clear for you but unfortunately i get an error :worried:

  9. Ok, i managed to upload also the pictures. It should be clear for you.
Note that the hole plastic cover does not have any screws. You just take it out slow.

  10. Or not, it seems i cannot upload anything.
    I will try later

  11. I think we may be mixing up 2 different card readers here.

The OP is possibly taking about the unit at the bottom of the center console and maybe Andrei means a unit that very near the center screen?

  12. As far as i know, on Megane 3 there are only 2 types of SD card slots.
One is directly on the display unit (in the case of TomTom Live navigation) and the other is in the connection box, under the OBDII diag entrance in the dash (near the ash tray). In the second case, this type of SD card box is used for RLink type displays which no longer have the slot on them. I am only sorry i cannot upload any pics ...

  13. yes its the one underneath the OBD plug in the later meganes with rlink

  14. Is the part number '280234575R' plug and play? I was thinking about it before I wanted to replace the standard red and white phono lead I have on my RS250

  15. Hi,
Depends on the car. Some of them have the wires pre fitted and some don't.
The only way to find out is to take out the old one and see if there is another 4 pin grey socket (renault USB connector ) in the dash.
If not, if you don't have the wire diagrams and a bit of knowledge will be hard to retrofit.
It is possible to retrofit abolutely everything on the megane 3/clio 3 etc range including R-LInk or even the old Tom Tom navi + RS Mon V1.
You just need the cables and UCH reprograming with DDT.
In the case of the BOX there is no programming needed, just the wires.
However if you will change to the new one, you will have at least a proper jack aux cable instead of the 2 RCA plugs.

    Molesyy likes this.
  16. You can get 3.5mm jack to phono converters though, if that helps?

I suspect the input is not expecting the nominal 2V that phono usually caries but a more sensible 500mV?

  17. Yes, that is true

  18. Yeap, you are right

  19. Thanks, very helpful, will pop it off tonight and if ive got the wires will order one up!

  20. Good luck!
