Megane 250 exhaust cat back or turbo back.

  1. Booking car in soon for a custom map. Been trying to make decision for a while now weather to go cat back or turbo back as all in is £700 more

  2. Ultimately depends on how much power you're wanting to wring out of it. If you're not going big power I wouldn't bother.

Unless you want the noise of course.

I'm running cat back with a small rear box and it's fine for me, not too loud but loud enough to make a difference.

  3. Want 300-320 most but don't want it to get unreliable etc looking at ktec exhaust

  4. Anyone one here running turbo back?

Unless you have a friendly MOT man or are planning on going big power. Not the figures you have quoted. I personally wouldn't bother, The extra money/hassle are not worth the gains tbh.

  6. Ok great was looking at the k tec turbo back with sports cat ? Don't mind a bit more power than above just don't want it becoming unreliable?

It isn't going to be unreliable from basic mods. Realistically you won't get anything over 330bhp ont he stock turbo, It just can't flow enough and even then you will be lucky to get near that

  8. I see. Well wondering if I should get turbo back over a cat back with intercooler and dif induction ?

  9. My Ktec turbo back sounds awesome and with a map my car is currently showing 300.7 bhp and 337lbs torque with it installed. Nice mod and on sport mode bangs nicely on downshifts if you heel and toe

  10. Do you just have a turbo back exhaust mate? With or without sports cat? I that k tecs map to. What's it like normal driving? Very loud?

  11. Just cat-back

Not loud at all really. No drone or 'boom'. Just a deep, sporty tone overlaid with the darthvader noise (as normal).

The loudest bit is the pops on down-changes....

I've owned tonnes of cars and exhausts and this is one of the most 'adult' I've had

  12. Cool don't want to much on normal driving. Thought in ur post above it said turbo back go a lot better after that? Be the 1st car o would have got maped etc

  13. You're better off mapping once you've modded to make sure the map works with them properly

  14. I know just looking at what to get at same time

  15. Depends on your plans. If you wanted to go intercooler and exhaust changes do them first then the map. Otherwise you will fork out twice

  16. Well got a airtec on atm and looking at fitting the ktr induction. Just can't make up my mind on a turbo back or a cat back one realy don't want it being loud and wondering for 700 more would I notice the difference over cat back

Simple answer. No you are not going to notice it over a catback. They only difference i noticed with my decat was the noise anyone that says they can notice an extra 10bhp or whatever in a car already running fairly modest power is either lying or trying to justify it to themselves.

Would i bother with a decat on them again? Probably not if i were keeping to simple mods but seeing as I have a Hybrid to fit it shall help

  18. Ok great help next year may hybrid but not this year. Got a intercooler on now and going to uprate induction and exhaust. It may get on track occasionally. Mate has a stage 3 Astra 300bhp 340torque want to be quicker

They don't need more power to be quicker on track, Just learn to drive it properly. I done several track days in mine when it was standard bar brakes and it was quicker than other more powerful stuff....

  20. Ok mate nice one rekon cat back it is then and save 700

Use that saved 700 quid for a couple of Trackdays and tuition, Guaranteed it will make you faster than a small increase in power

  22. Thanks for all the help mate appreciate it will defo be on some track days this year
