Probably me being an idiot and not emailing henk first but just a quick warning to all mk3 owners thinking on buying a second hand rs tuner from henk at fastchip, I emailed him asking can I get a reprogramme license and a custom map for my car and he has swiftly emailed back stating to map the mk3 the rs tuner has to be brought new from them. I don't know if this is true or they are annoyed at the amount of people buying second hand units. Its still a bargain for all that it does but I just brought it mainly to map it, think I'll save a bit more and go to rs tuning as everyone else does.
I'd ask Henk if you can trade in the second hand one for a new one(with discount) they always used to do that if u wanted to upgrade to premium etc after buying a basic one. With various discounts depending on how long you had had it. It may be a firmware issue and you have an older box. I know only certain firmwares and above could do certain maps etc
How can they be getting annoyed at people buying second hand units? That's why they have the option to buy another 'licence' to unlock it for another vehicle. what did they expect we'd all do with them once the map has been installed?
Yeah I doubt it's due to fastchip getting annoyed with people buying second hand units. Mine was second hand and had no problems with it. I'm guessing it's a firmware issue with the hardware
