ok so the alarm in the 197 is utter crap. I’ve had it go off numerous times (locked with an open sunroof) and it sounds like its 2 miles away as its buried beneath the sound deadening in the boot. Whats the alarm like on the latest meganes? Is it the same or is it actually LOUD?
No, it's crap. You do know it's got air pressure sensors fitted that will go off by design if you leave the sunroof open?
Yeah I know sometimes I'm only running indoors quickly so leave the roof open but lock the car. It only goes off like 15% of the time I've done it. Still at least I knew the alarm on the 197 was carp because of it. Just wondered if the same was true in the megane.
I may do what I did in the clio and remove some of the soundproofing from around it if it's in a similar place in the boot. Made it slightly louder.I shall be trying to set it off when I get it. Windows down and armed it is lol.
Windows go up automatically when you double lock it and arm the alarm. Mine has went off a few times with stuff falling off screens and it is pretty loud tbf.
I've always thought the alarm is extremely quiet. Mines gone off a few times in the past but the first I've known about it is with the beeps when unlocking. Anyone know if you can replace the speaker (or whatever it is) with something louder?
Well it's louder then the clio. A lot louder. Locked my brother in the megane earlier and he set it off.I found that out about the Windows too. That's why I locked him in there.
