Meg Engine Evolution for ECONOMY

  1. Not your usual post.

But I did around 200 miles yesterday in my 275 and got 42mpg.

I used to have an 08 plate R26 on same miles and it would do 38 mpg on similar run.

197/200 would be 36 mpg and 182's would be 40 mpg. I always figured weight a factor hear and maybe shorter gearing on later cars.

I am assuming they were all the same engine barring the turbo's on the Meg. No Direct Injection or anything fancy.

So what has changed to help economy? Is it just longer 6th gear pulled by turbo torque?

  2. I've also been getting +40mpg on runs, if I sit at 60mph that is. 70mph is 37/38mpg.

When I was out Monday morning, 17

  3. R26, around 29mpg, a bit less on track!!.

  4. You should be ashamed of yourself, 42mpg is not right, i did manage that once in my 265 M20 and M25 roadworks sat at 50mph for nearly 50 miles, soon sorted that out when the roadworks cleared.

It normally averaged 34/36, 12/14 on track for the 265
the 225, i got it down to 8.4mpg with 2 days on track at Spa :laughing::laughing:

  5. Highest i've had is about 47 going downhill in one of those 50 limit motorway zones. Normal commute is just under 30mpg. Lowest? About 12
