Shifter is here but missing few bits, seller is paying for the karts so hoping cae will sell them separately
Back from the "Green hell" now and had a fantastic time but I need to take a moment to truly appreciate this car, not only does it drive me to Germany from my house using 3/4 of fuel it then absolutely makes every hair on my body stand up. how their are not more of these in the UK is beyond me but me and this car will not be separated any time soon. cheesy as it sounds but me and Meg have been through a bit of a rollercoaster ride since may with set backs and stressfully expensive moments I think its safe to say this car in only 11 months is now part of me. I ran the 17x9s with federal 595 rsr which are decent in the dry but shocking in the wet, for the price they are hard to beat but after driving with Dunlop direzza dz03g on track they feel poor in comparison but obviously these are 2 very different tyres. I went to Raeder motorsport and spoke about some suspension tweeks so who knows maybe she will spend a day there again in just over a month. As it stands she showed my pals in their stage 2 plus mk5 gti golfs with diffs and my pals hta28 big turbo mini cooper s what a megane does when it comes to bends!!! I met 2 German Megane owners who ive been chatting to via facebook for last couple of months and was great to eet them in person, one of which GAVE me a part I needed to allow me to fit my CAE shifter and when I offered him money he said no this is a gift from one megane friend to another!!! SAYS IT ALL. Cars at Castle Combe action day this weekend then back to Germany for more fun in 5 weeks. ~ ~
5 weeks, shame i'm there in 4 weeks. Doing open pit lane on Friday (22nd April) then the Saturday and Sunday is 8am - 7pm tourist day. 3 days of fun but without the Easter jams. Car looks great by the way!
Glad you enjoyed Mate. Looks really at home on track. How you finding the seats? I'll keep an eye out for you at Castle Combe, will pop over and say hi. I'm at the ring June 13-16th, hoping midweek will be quieter.
Mini is fully forged Hta28 turbo running 312 at the wheels atm and the golf is 390bhp 430lbs torque but shows power isn't everything as the megane still done them both
nice! sure, just interesting to know especially as the mini sounded evil! car's coming along nicely mate
I'm sure you've answered this already, but I can't seem to be able to find it in the thread: what induction kit/blowoff(recirc) valve are you running? It sounds sweeeeeeet! Those blue wheels look epic btw
Good to meet you today man. The Meg looked good and your track experience showed going around castle combe. You gave me loads of ideas. Top genuine lad.
I was just about to say hello while you were in the queue to go on track but you had to move so missed you - car looks mint!
When I asked I was joking but your reaction, "go get a helmet then!" Gutted I didn't bring my lid otherwise I would have jumped straight in. Big inspiration this Meg.
Session at castle combe yesterday, 1st ever time there but atm I feel so at home driving this car https://youtu.be/2iDPUJ3I6-4
I really like this picture! It's great hearing about how much you enjoy driving this car also. I kinda hope I never meet you on the track some day as as much as I would like to see it in action, it will just make me want to spend more cash on mine!
Read this thread start to finish, nice car Matt Quick question on the KWs - do you think they're significantly better than stock? I had a chat with the guys that helped to produce the Ohlins for the Trophy R today and they got me a price on those - £3.2k plus VAT (!!). Add fitting and geo and you're at £4.5k inc VAT.... Suddenly makes the £2k option look appealing. The Ohlins were 1-1.5s quicker round Anglesea, which is where they were tested. The KWv3s are less than half the price so the Ohlins don't really represent any value for money in performance terms, other than the ability to soften the ride somewhat However, given the 'stock' suspension round the ring is pretty epic, what's the biggest difference you notice with the KWv3s?
Just a point. The Ohlins (EVO test) at Anglesea were only 0.4 sec a lap quicker than a standard Cup car. Not significant for the money. Some camber would help.
Matt has the VW Clubsports. I've the KW V3's and yes they're much better than stock suspension if set up correctly and depending on drivers ability. If your a track amateur then the standard suspension probably is more than adequate. Only reason I didn't go Clubsports or other suspension as this is a sort of daily driver / other half wants to track at some point and I have a mangled Megane I plan on going all out on at some future point that'll be a track only car and will have better suspension.
Being able to dial in extra camber is one of the main reasons to go for something like Clubsports IMO.
What's the geo setup on the Clubsports that you went for, Matt? Assuming you dropped the ride height, do you have separate damper settings for road/track?
Watched 2 runs around castle combe on Saturday, You just got that Grey meg on the 2nd run as you near lapped him
