Yeah they're spot on. I got the windows from Meganesporbreakers on Meganesport.net Hi mate, Have a wee look through, the springs pictured are stiffer front springs which are the same length as the standard V3 springs. Also the ratings etc. are noted a couple of pages back. Set up will now be; Front 60/200 Rear 60/170 with the helper (which should lower the car more)
Thank you. You are not going with a helper up front? Might be a stupid guestion 60 stands for spring rate and 200/170 lenght of the spring? Sorry if its a stupid question. Instead of buying different springs in the back, I made aluminium plates instead of hight adjustment plates, that was I got my rear end lower.
Yeah no helper on the front 60/200 ... 60 being the rate at n/mm on 200 being the length I asked about much stiffer springs (F: 80/200 & R: 110/170) but the KW Engineer told me their dampers do more of the work so Ill see how their recommendations go.
Thank again. I am going to see how happy you will be about with their recommendation and then I will act upon it... My problem with front springs is a pot hole dampers tend to bottoms out pretty badly, not always, sounds like dampers will launch out through my bonnet. No matter what the setup is. I assumed that the only way to fix that is with stiffer springs. I even got new KW V3 dampers after 40.000 km. I just dont know if I should go with helpers in the front? Apreicate your help.
I'm not sure how helpful I can be with regards to potholes...the car doesn't see a road now other than on the back of the trailer. The helper is there to make sure the spring doesn't come out of position if the dampers droop is further than the spring allows so I doubt it'd help with potholes if its the damper bottoming out and not the spring becoming dislodged from its perch and clunking back into place. What settings are you using up front ? Standard V3 Settings are 'Rebound 9 clicks open Bump 5 clicks open'
Ive just found a cheap supplier of front windows; http://www.acwmotorsportplastics.co.uk/ 126 delivered with sliders
Argh, no more temptation lol the Mrs will kill me. I'll need to smash a door window somehow lol. Seems a cracking price right enough !!!
Wee update with everything that's going on the car now; New stiffer front springs for the V3's New rear spring set-up for the V3's also stiffer Also the black series rear beam bushes and front anti roll bar bushes. Cant wait to see how it performs now !
Stiff as hell that'll be, not that, that will be a bad thing, I'm about to spec the black series front ARB bits, went for purple for everything else to maintain the road driving feeling which it will be 50/50. I'm not 100% on how you have a smaller helper spring for the rear damper. Where does it go? Or am I being totally stupid? Looking forward to seeing it all fitted!
Cheers for all the comments guys, it should make a decent difference. Just need to play with the front dampers settings to get it how I like it. Naith the new rear set-up is a direct replacement for the standard spring, So from the top down its the Adjuster Cup, Main Spring, Intermediate Ring then the Helper Spring on the rear beam. Steve he AST rear shocker is upside down so thats why the helper's on top there.
AHHH interesting, so the smaller spring is coupled to a new smaller large spring? I really need to shore up my rear. I have a Ph2 beam, V3s and purple power flex bits (not fitted yet) so with the same prospective rates as you i'd be a happy chappy. Hurry up and fit them haha!
I'll be fitting my ASTs without adjustable top mounts as well mark, it's ok having camber for track but for the road it's just not for me, all over the place on the road , take your eye off the ball for a split second and your in a ditch, just too sharp for the road with camber for me as I still enjoy a Sunday blast out mate .
Just don't set them up with a load of camber then Steve? Can you adjust the castor on them? Run as much castor as you can and around -1.5 camber. Should be a good compromise with that.
I've not bought the adjustable top mounts Jamie, I'll have it all fitted then see how I get on with it on the next track day, I don't really suffer with scrubbing the outside edge of the tyres anyway mate , it can only be better as it will be stiffer when adjusted up for track
Ah fair enough Steve, I thought you had them with the kit already so thought it would of been a bit of a waste
I have but it was at a soaking wet Knockhill. I hadn't had a chance to have the height set properly or the alignment etc ill be getting that done soon then I'll be able to comment better. It's certainly stiffer, I could feel that much
Good stuff, let me know how you get on with those settings and what you've set your front dampers at. I've started again with the standard damper settings and I'll work from there. A word of caution but don't panic, the powder coating was a little heavy on the fronts of mine so that had to be buffed off a little to allow them to seat properly in the purple too mount cup. Nothing major or anything to panic about !
car looks awesome! will follow this thread, im due to collect a 225 cup at the weekend in black - debating holding out for an orange example or even saving for an F1/r26 so the car has an LSD.
