This is something ive wanted to do for a long time, to remove some minor swirl marks. How easy is it? My biggest fear is that i will make the paint worse rather than better! Is it idiot proof?
As said use a dual action polisher, a soft-ish pad and something oily/long working time so that you can learn and move the polished around easily. Any of the menzerna products are great to start with and superb once you learn how to use them.
I've just finished polishing my car (first time) using das 6 pro and menzerna polishes. The result were very good although I couldn't get the deeper scratches out. All swirls gone though and it's a black car. I did melt the backing off 2 pads tho but paint wasn't affected so it's a pretty safe combo. When in I get time I'll upload the before and after shots
Mine is black too. I will have a look at the products you used pagey. Do meguiars still do the dual action polishing training? They used to if a min number of people turned up and all brought sonething

Not sure about the megs training but I'm sure there training near you. The only training I had was watching you tube and taking my time. This is is the thread of polishes I used http://www.rsmegane.com/showthread.php?5841-Menzerna-Sampler-Kit-and-pad-advice&highlight= I then used a base layer of geotechnical G2v3 and 2 layers auto finesse spirit wax to protect
That last post should have said, there should be some machine polishing courses or training so where near you. I think they make you practice on a body panel from a scrap yard. To be fair you'd be hard pressed to burn through your paint with a DA. I found that removing swirls was very time consuming with one. I suspect a rotary is miles quicker
