Quote from K-Tec page: “New to K-Tec Racing! M-Tech Short Shifter for Megane 3RS Models. This will fit all 250, 265 and 275 models including the Trophy R. By fitting this shift linkage you will have a gear throw shortening of about 30%. The factory gear stick model and height remains unchanged. The short shifter will be fitted on top of the gearbox where the shift linkage is located. Gear changes are much quicker and precise. One of the must have modifications to your Megane RS !” To cut a very long story short, I’ve had recent gearbox issues and before the car went in to be repaired I removed the short-shift linkage in case that was causing or contributing to my gearbox issues. Well it wasn’t and whilst repairing the gearbox the garage have actually fitted a different linkage (to both OEM and the M-tech) and all is working perfectly and better than OEM. So I therefore have my M-tech linkage kit for sale. All is pretty much as new, obviously it’s been fitted and removed so has the odd small mark. I did however have to get a local machine-shop to cut the roll-pin removal tool ring down, as the higher welds around the main pivot-point on the M-tech linkage (you can actually see them in the photo) meant that I couldn’t use the tool again to remove the roll-pin when removing the short-shift linkage. So basically the removal tool ring is now approx. 60% as thick, this doesn’t affect its use and you will be thankful of this should you ever want to remove the short-shift linkage in the future. As a side-note, rather than re-fitting a roll-pin a M7 bolt and nut will work just as well and I can include these in the sale if wanted as roll-pins are a pain to fit if you don’t have the special tools. The kit new is £129 (+postage), based on it being 2nd hand plus having cut the removal tool ring down (not that this actually effects anything) I am happy to accept £50 collected from Ingatestone Essex, or plus £10 if posted using Parcel Force 48, payment by cash or bank-transfer. Thanks, Mark
Hi! Could you please explain what this "different linkage" acutally is? Can you try to explain how it improved the gear change?
