250 lowering cup/non-cup

  1. I've been looking at possibilities of getting my 250 non-cup slightly lowered...

All kits I've looked at that specify an amount of lowering (coilovers and springs) don't say anything about if the amount of lowering is relative to cup or non-cup - are the two cars the same with regards to ride height???

Also, since I'm only after slight lowering, so the distance between the arch and the tyre (235/35-19) will be about the same at the top as it is at 9 and 3 o'clock, I was looking at the Eibach pro-kit (-15mm).. What is your experience with these on a 250 non-cup with regards to ride quality and handling?

    cheers..

  2. The cup model sits lower as standard but the distance the springs will lower your car applies to the car they're being fitted to. So if you fitted the springs to yours and to a cup the cup would still be lower because it was to start with. Personally don't know anyone who has them fitted but I'd imagine it would make yours feel like a cup model. Mine is pretty firm but it's bearable.

    H&R's.

Eibach are a softer rate than the standard cup springs, H&r's are the same if not a bit stiffer so will sharper up yours nicely, I would stick some Cup dampers on it as well tbh

  4. really? I thought the cup was lower, but due to shorter springs.. If it's not the springs which are shorter, what other difference makes the cup lower then?

Both will lower the same amount on springs regardless of Cup/Non cup.

  6. They will be the same height though if the same springs are used on both versions. If you put the Eibachs on a cup and non cup the result would be that they would both be the same height.

  7. Cup dampers are shorter too. As Jamie said, fit some cup shocks with the springs and your on a winner.
