Has anyone done this DIY yet? Any tips, pics, special tools etc? I've got a front end knock at low speed which I'm yet to determine the source. Through process of elimination the lower ball joint seems to the common fault on these cars and a probable cause, its a starting point for one. I know Aarons Autos and Mark Black do them but if I can do it myself it will save a journey and couple of quid. I'm handy on the spanners and I have access to a fully equiped workshop with a ramp etc. If not, then I'm happy to support our trusted independants and have them do it.
Simple job, remove the suspension arm. Press out old ball joint, press in new ball joint. Simple as that. Have seen that some people have managed to do it without taking the arm off but it's not much of a job to do anyway
So how is it going? Was it due to the worn out ball joints? I get front end knock also but have not yet determined the causes.
Could also be front upright ant twist link, proving to be source of lo speed 'clonk' over bumps, both mine at 20k fubard
Sorry, forgot about this. I haven't done anything yet. I've either gotten used to the noise or I've not noticed it doing it in a while. I'll have a listen out for it later and see if it's still present.
