Those who have pressed out their 250/265/275 lower ball joint from the hub carrier, and subsequently pressed in a replacement:

Is this possible without heat using a simple ball joint press? (Random kit for reference of what I'm referring too)

Trying to work out if I can do it myself (~£75), take the stripped hub carrier and replacement ball joint to a mechanics to swap the parts (~£75+?), or simply buy a new hub carrier with lower joint included (~£189).

  3. I use a press, but it's normally very little effort required to install. the kit you reference should be fine.

    Thanks for the input, Cockers.

Hopefully the hole in the top of the hub carrier for the upper ball joint is large enough to allow the forcing screw through. Will give it a go this weekend, hopefully.

  5. Would be interested to know if it works, got two hubs sat in my garage now that need new joints.

  6. Didnt use any heat, just pressed it out quite easily.

I'll let you know, i haven't even started yet...hopefully i'll make a start this weekend. As well as the lower ball joints I'll also be fitting some Bilstein B14s (and driveshaft spacers), new inner and outer tie rods, new drop links, and new anti rotation links.
