225 Loud grinding after rear disc and pad change

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by Liam collins, Dec 4, 2020.

  1. Evening all.

Changed my rear discs (OEM) and pads (ferodo ds2500) this afternoon

Just taken it for a spin and the grinding noise is quite something! Both when braking and sometimes slightly when I’m not. Wondering if there’s something I could have done wrong?

    Car is a phase 1 225

    Thanks I’m advance

  2. Basics first, pads in the right way round?

Calipers stiff to wind back? Check they are not binding.

  3. When you say right way round.. the pad with the clip at the top of the pad I fitted on the inside of the disc. The other pad had no clips and that went on the outside. Guessing this is right?

Callipers were stiff to wind back but not crazy. Do you think the piston could be the culprit?

  4. jack it up..handbrake off,and see if you can turn the rear wheels by hand to check pistons are releasing..
