250 Loud gear change

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by BenW, Apr 24, 2015.

  1. I've had this issue ever since I bought my 250 but pretty sure it's getting worse. Gear change feels fine and sounds fine with the windows closed but as soon as I open the windows it's really noisy when changing gears. It's so loud that people in the street turn to look.

Does anyone else have this with their 250? It's been back to the dealer a few times and they always say they can't hear anything unusual but even my mum can tell it's not right and that's saying something!

    Cheers,
    Ben

  2. I also have the 250 and mine has been noisy since I bought it also. Like you say don't notice it so much with the window up but down you hear a clunk. Maybe it would be worth changing the gearbox oil? I'm also interested on comments haha.

  3. +2 on this. I also had my box oil changed and it's still the same. I'm sure I remember it's something to do with the diff? I may be wrong.

  4. My 265 does this. Always has from new. Think it's normal

Mine does this. I asked 2 (for twice the peace of mind) specialists if it's normal and both said yes, so I would't worry.

It is annoying when people look at you as though you can't drive haha

  6. Depends what noise you mean :tongueout: It does clunk between gears, but then it also whines at low speed.

Worst gear change is always 1st to 2nd oh and the biggest whine from 2nd too

  8. Mine also has the clunk in low gears and the whine at low speeds

  9. Mine does too! Has been in to renault and they said it's just play in the system -_-

  10. yep have the same problem i also thought it was like a lose engine mount or gearbox mount and i got it checked up at my renault service and they also said when you shift up or down fast you can hear it very noticeable but when you take it slow (granny shifting :tongueout:) you hear it less , it seems when the engine is still under load that it rocks about and it maybe makes it sound more noticeable when you shift up or down ...

  11. My 250 does this too, bought it a few lo the ago and it's always concerned me but judging by the amount of people's replies to this it's a characteristic of them I guess
