Loss of power 1.9dci

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by GSI-MAN, Aug 26, 2016.

  1. Hi all
    I have a 2002 1.9dci.
Great little car but now and again I have a sudden loss of power which happens under 30mph.
It is almost like someone has ripped up the hand brake.
I usually just change down a gear and all is well.
    Any ideas guys.
I think it's an injector but I am not a mechanic.
Is there anyway I can check them?
    Cheers

  2. What does it say on your trip comp?

Sent from my VIVO using Tapatalk

  3. No funny lights or warnings

  4. Might be worth getting a cheap OBD reader just in case theres a stored fault. I had a 1.9 DCI for 100K and the only thing i can think of which was similar was a fooked EGR valve and it went into limp mode

  5. My dad has a good OBD reader I will try that tomorrow.
We blocked off the egr ages ago when it would not rev above 3000rpm partly why I bought it for only £150

  6. lol £150 is megan cheap!!!! The only way to check injectors is to send them away. Check the glow plugs with a multimeter. Does it do it even when warm?

  7. Yeah still does it when warm.
Ace little car but has this annoying problem!

  8. Plugged in the OBD reader and no fault codes.
Oh well maybe I will never find out!!

  9. Would any of those OBD readers from eBay and any of those torque apps which read live data maybe help me?
If so what do I buy, what do you recommend!
    Cheers

  10. Any suggestions please.
    Cheers
