Hi, I have just purchased a 2005 megane 225. I've read a lot of posts around stiff gear selection but mine I would describe as having a very loose gearstick and it seems to decide 1st or 3rd or 5th more than where I put the gearstick. you get a actuator and linkage when you buy new from renault. When i was buying them a few years back,they were £136..no doubt gone up considerably by now.
Thanks, £172 I've been quoted. Thanks for all your help @andrewjeffs , invaluable. I've stripped it completely , short shift added, sorted my panoroof whistle and replaced my handbrake today. Gear shift is so much sharper with the short shift , still a bit notchy though so maybe actuator will need purchased. I have it at my local specialist for cambelt change and they've offered to have a check before I buy one.
