Hi I am currently driving a 2l ecoboost S-max, but decided that I would like to get a Megane Renaultsport. I have found one at a dealership that looks good, its a 4 owner 2007 on an 07 plate with 59000 miles 3 door lux model with the panoramic sunroof in silver. Its up for £5895 just wondered what I should be looking regarding these cars any advice you can give will be welcomed thanks
Those cars are abused very often. People like to take them for track days etc. Ask about warranty for it. At that age and millage anything may happen, but if it is car from dealership then probably has been approved and you have a chance for nice example.
i wouldn't jump in on the first one you see like i did. all depends what your budget is and insurance. because there's always some nice examples for sale on here of the better spec models with an LSD and recaros etc. to which i should have done..

Would you consider a modified one? My R26 will be up for sale soon, standard spec includes Recaro seats and LSD over the one posted there, and it also has the optional black pack (interior door hands and centre console in gloss black, along with wheels and mirror caps - wheels will be refurbed before sale so colour can change if required). It's on 55,000 miles and is liquid yellow. It's stage 2 with 273bhp and 310ftlbs. It has been running this power for around 30,000 miles. I've owned it for the past two years. There is a thread on here, or pm me for more details. This is the first car I'm going to have to sell without wanting to (bloody mortgage) and it's the longest I've ever owned a car for!
Always go for one with full service history if you can.... tbh you will never truely know how the previous owner treated the car unless you know them lol I bought mine with 5 x previous owners (2 x of them being garages) so I dont think number of owners should put you off, especially when most performance cars change hands quite often. Also note the servicing, running costs and dont forget to check if the cambelt and water pump have been changed at the right intervals as that can be costly.
If you can find an R26 model, those bring a whole another level of cornering performance compared to non-LSD versions... They also come with Recaros as standard. As has been said, make sure the cambelt and the water pump have been changed. Steering wheel should self center and feel smooth. Check windows open and close normally and the foot wells are not damp. Oil should have been changed regularly. Otherwise, they are pretty robust cars. Hi thanks for all the comments given lots to think about, was originally looking at buying one then selling the S-max to put some money in the bank. But have now since seen some nice RS250/265's so now thinking sell the S-max and forget about putting some money in the bank, but my sensible head keeps telling me to save some money lol. If I decide not to save the cash would it be better to look at one without the fixed glass roof?
There are a lot of variant of the mk2 megane so best idea is to spend a bit of time looking around reading what you can and asking a few questions and then decide what you want when you have studied the info. people on here will be more than happy to help you out
If you want daily car, then buy something like mine: standard chassis, leather, xenon, panoramic roof, sat nav etc. They are nice and comfortable.
