So I whipped the bumper off today for the first time since buying the car in April. I'd a few bits and pieces to sort and the EGR to replace (M9R engine). I immediately spotted this: No way this got trapped there by accident. Took some effort to wind it out. So it would appear the A/C compressor had been mechanically locked in. I wandered if the inner bearing was perhaps worn and shrieking which is why the compressor pulley had been locked on. But no, seems fine. So I assume this has been done as the compressor wasn't switching in. Indeed after removing the screw and trying the switch, the compressor doesn't clutch in. Any ideas? I'm guessing faulty pressure switch??
Not sure if it would though! Either way the AC was ineffective since I've had it. Between freeing the compressor off and replacing the dodgy EGR, it's a lot better.....boost is back!
Replacing the EGR cooler at the weekend as I found it was leaking when I replaced the EGR so I'll have a look then!
