At the weekend I was taking all the wheels off the car to give it a good clean underneath and the wheels before it goes off the road. During this the locking wheel nut key broke!! So I still have one wheel on the car. Does anyone know of a way to remove them without buying a new key? Looks like this if anyone has a spare ❤️ http://i924.photobucket.com/albums/...6-61D7-457C-81E2-461225E3335D_zpstdhky3zc.png
The easiest thing will be to buy a new key if the bolt is still intact. You could try and smash a standard socket over the locking nut, but I think you'd struggle with that. On an old Escort of mine the whole hub was removed so that the bolt could be drilled out from the rear, but again a major amount of faffing (and a 1986 model car!) It's a shame you're not closer as I think I've got a spare set of nuts/key and the key on my 250. Sometimes a key which is very close will do enough of a job to loosen it, but it's trial and error. Someone may know another way, but good luck!
Just read a how to about splitting the spinning part then battering a socket on so I'll try that tonight. I don't have the code for the key so renault aren't to helpful about getting a replacement. If this works I'll be getting a set of polarised bolts and chucking the locking ones
This does not sound fun! Watch those alloys! Makes my evening of flat pack building in the warm sound much more appealing
Mexican way , with a hammer and a socket that almost fits the nut. Place the socket over the nut, hit it hard with the hammer so its adjust the nut . Take the nut out. For shure the nut and the socket will be useless.
new key is only about €30 I ordered one last month, you get two for that price and takes about a week or so to arrive
