Just upload a short project on this; more of a means to blog and record the progress, what progress there is, of the car On 60,000 with 3 previous owners. Previous owner had it for 10 months before needing the cash for other things. He also had an amazing beach buggy It's has had a visit to K-Tech Racing who fitted a KTR Induction kit and a KTR BOV. It sounds amazing, not too chavvy but withj the essence of turbo. The usuall gubbins; 4 pot brembos, LSD, Trophy chassis, Xenons, Recaro seats, cruise control, electric windows (which were replaced 2 years ago i was glad to hear), electric mirrors and a DID have a full tank of fuel! Drive home yesterday totalling about 100 miles and managed to use a third of a tank of fuel. Plans are to just enjoy the car, give it a new set of tyres as the eco tyres on at the moment squeel and have no hold to them at all, give it a semi-decent detailing session, look at replacing the ICE and try keep it as nice as when I purchased it.
Have had detailing session today with meguiars wax. Total of about 3 hours worth of work, nothing too in depth but a bit of protection and ridding of the old tree sap reside left all over the car. It's by no means perfect and it's highlighted what needs doing next. There's a horrendous amount of tar specs down both sides which is going to take some time and effort to rectify so if anyone knows of any decent tar treatment products, i'd appreciate it.

So, I contacted KTR to try and find out what the car has had done to it as the previous owner was unsure. I provided them with the names of all owners before and tracked down the parts it's had fitted. Its had a recirc blank plate, a KTR dump valve and a KTR panel filter all in 2008. Matching up with the religious Renault service routine in the paperwork, the car was looked after! KTR suggested that the panel filter is nearing the end of its service and would probably need replacing soon, so i'll look into that. Spent the bank holiday weekend detailing the car to some degree. New to detailing all round so after researching and reading around detailingworld , i set about firstly giving it a standard wash, nothing special, then set about de-tarring the car with Tardis tar remover. I bought a metal spray bottle to decant the fluid into, and applied with a wide spray, left to soak for a short time, then wiped with a clean micro-fibre cloth. Working on small patches at a time, it took me around 3-4 hours to do the whole car. I then set about clay barring the car using Meguiars clay bar kit which included 2 clay bars, lube and a nice cloth. I managed to get the boot, rear quarters, bonnet and front bumper done, over 2 days taking about 7 hours or so. I'm going to clay bar the doors and rear bumper this weekend and aim to touch it all up again, then polish and protect with Meguiars polish; hand application then machine buffed. Not a fan of using machine to apply as i feel you can't apply it accurately enough. Personal preference. Pictures are on my friends DSLR, being sent over this evening so i'll upload some pictures later. I've entered a local car competition this weekend for "Best Paint", hence the time being put into the detailing at the moment. C&C welcomed

Next on the list: - New tyres - current tyres are budget tyres - New brakes all round; rears are fading and fronts again can be upgraded a little - Possible new headunit; a double din Clarion, once i figure out what cables i need - feel free to help - Remap once I get confident with the car on local B roads and feel the need for a little more ooomph
Nice thread mate!, That first pic of your car has to be one of the best pics I've ever seen of a LY Mk2 - it looks amazing
Thanks. That first picture was on the for sale thread when i purchased the car. The images I've taken from the detailing sessions over the weekend are of similar quality. Will put them on this afternoon! Thanks I hope you enjoy!
Thanks; enjoying it greatly at the moment! It comes up so nice; such a deep paint, love it! And the full album here; with a bonus shot of my mates 370z https://www.dropbox.com/sh/i4mt8qbrxn2btzy/AACuS308BmeK-sCAyZ8SAD6Ia?dl=0
Small update Installed OBDII wifi device which is all working nicely and also an OEM MP3 connector as i'm assuming mp3 was optional at factory?
Long overdue update! Been enjoying the car a lot. Had a play with my friend in his 370z around some fun B roads! Met a local friend with a nice 250 Gave detailing another go. Started with 2 bucket wash with Autoglym shampoo conditioner (which i really didn't like) Followed by a full tardis rub down Then onto Meguiars clay bar and detailer On the wheels used Meguiars "hot rims all wheel cleaner" - (would recommend this hugely) Meguiars tyre gel on the tyres (would recommend this stuff) Then the centre dash fell out and a new item fell in
Wheels and tire gel Waiting on fascia to flush it off nicely and a cable to connect iphone 5 - then the appradio is good to go! More on previous page - pic limit
The cente console is standard. Just cut the middle divider out to allow the double a size The black was factory optional extra; door handles are the same
So had the car on at Prescot hill climb over the weekend - got 4 runs in total, cracking day with a few shots to follow!
very nice mate, how did you find the hill climb? id like to have a go in my 250 to make a change from trackdays.
The track has been showered on in the morning which made it seriously slippery and sappy, so kept traction control on. This caused a lot of oversteer as I couldn't get any power through the LSD Second run, traction control off and made it a hell of a lot better. Apart from that, it was awesome on the hill, I'm still getting used to the car myself. I also have a local small circuit gymkhana style event in a few weeks.
Short clip that i found of it on the hill climb - yes, need new tyres quickly!
Small update Had new powerflex rear bushes fitted in an attempt to remove small knock from back end - hasn't cured it but has stiffened the back end up nicely. Next thing to look at is exhaust movement/knocking Also decided to whip of the rear bumper trim and freshen it up with matt black spray quick job and very pleased with it BEFORE DURING AFTER Few things planned for August for the car - rear end box chop - remap - 260bhp / 360 ftlb - fit R26r spoiler - fit new KTR panel filter THEN that should be it for a little while
cheers; just halfords matt black - its cheap and easy. I'm not a fan of glossy plastic panels like this - matt black is a personal preference. single coat. it can be reapplied if it starts to fade/peel but i've never had a problem in the past with similar pieces.
Small update with this - i went to see Alex from Mapped out remapping who was an extremely nice guy, knowledgeable, polite, friendly and all round had plenty of time for me and my car. Would highly recommend. I was aiming for 260bhp/350nm from a map which he said was not an issue. The service requested was a before map rolling printout and an after roll prinout The first pre-map rolling printout came back @ 228bhp/300nm which we were both surprised by, thinking nothing more of it than the couple of existing mods adding a few bhp, we carried on. When he got the car, he took the existing map off for security so it could be put back to 'standard' after if needed. He got a standard map and began to work his magic. He uploaded this back onto the car and we took another run- it lost bhp and gained torque. He was extremely stumped. After being confused, comparing maps, speaking to colleagues for am hour or so he had no explanation other than a mechnical fault in the car. I had a quick chat to Ruan who suggested it could be a sensor somewhere in the car - the car was fully scanned for errors etc and nothing came up. Alex said, the existing "standard" map had already been played with after comparing to the OE map. I requested it to stay as it was then - his words were that "it's an aggressive map" which i don't particularly mind; it's harsh, pokey and quite suits my style of driving. The car still responds extremely well, produces reliable MPG and suits my style. Alex had no issue with this so reverted it back and profusely apologised - not that it's his fault! So, plans from here - begin replacing various sensors and injectors until i notice and OOMPH as the current map Alex said should already be producing the stated figures of 260bhp/350nm In the pipeline i have a r26r spoiler still waiting for me to fit as i believe it's ready for collection I've ordered a set of roof bars to carry my surf board And next few weeks I should have my box delete on the back end! Any other ideas as to what i could look at , please throw it in
Ahhh quite a way! He might be pricey but worth it. You could get a rs tuner box https://www.fastchip.nl/
A trip to Leeds will be cheaper and less fuss than replacing sensors one by one hoping to find something wrong.
Travelling to Leeds will result in them immediately diagnosing the problem. If Paul can't tell you what the problem is then you're in trouble.
fuel = £100 - (£50 each way) return ferry = £90 remap = £360 ---------- MAF = £45 MAP £15 Injectors = £160 That's what I'd assume would be at fault for this error... a fair bit cheaper than going to leeds
