Hi All, I took the r26 put for a blast at lunch time, I let the engine warm up for ten minutes before opening her up, at about 5k in 2nd gear the revs suddenly bounced like I was pinging off the limiter, then I went to third gear and the engine spluttered when I tried to accelerate and I didn't really go anywhere. I then had a flashing engine light for a minute which went away. The car is on 70k, belts have been done not that I think that would have been the issue. Any ideas what caused this? Thanks Dan
Dig out the paperwork and have a check the last time the spark plugs were done as well. An 18 month old set of non oem ones caused my car to misfire - sounds very similar to what happened to you. The car hit a wall at 6k like the limiter and then the power died..... Get a mate with an ODB and torque pro on his phone to plug it in and have a look for any codes as well...
They are prone to a misfire followed by the feeling of it not firing on one cylinder if the engine hits the cold limiter. Turn it off & start it again. Lee
I'll give it a few blasts when I know it's had longer to warm up then, how long does everyone give them, I've always done about 10 mins so maybe a bit longer?
Also could it be injectors as they haven't been done yet. I plan on doing a decent service this summer, I bought it last year with full service history but I'll have peace of mind if I do a hefty one.
