R26 Leaking Intercooler Pipework

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by DarkPand0r, Jun 24, 2014.

  1. Good Evening!!

My R26 has a small leak from a weld on the intercooler pipework going over the engine, the system is custom and is part of a kit from TX Autosport but the welding is a little shoddy and there's a small leak apparent by small amounts of oil residue around the weld after a hard drive.

What do you recommend is the best way to get around it?

    1. Fit new piping (Forge), this presents a problem in that the standard intercooler has been replaced for a universal which has a side inlet so would require more piping to fit.

    2. Re - weld the suspect area?

    3. Fit a silicone Joint over the area to essentially plaster it shut!

    Any help appreciated guys!

  2. If it's leaking from a previous weld you could get it ground down and redone professionally without looking tacky.

  3. As above, I would have it re-welded, would probably be cheapest option too.

  4. Yea, thanks guys. Booked in Friday to have it re welded for £50
