Get a free video uploaded to fb of it being ragged on the rollers if you go to ktec..

  4. Let's not be biased here. Mines being mapped at ktec this month.

    Rs tuning all day long.

  6. Brave man! Especially after reading all the horror stories over on cliosport - iirc their mapping isnt just bad its dangerous for the engine far too much ignition advance sending the knock sense crazy with det and seriously bad afr's!

Are you just getting their generic remap? as thats not meant too be to bad but their custom mapping is meant to be shocking!

  7. Engine dynamics use Henks equipment / base maps so will be safe but i think they do data logging on the road and adjust the map that way so will need your car for a few days i think, if your reasonably tech savvy it would be cheaper to do the RSTuner route directly through fastchip and custom map it that way. (i'm unsure if engine dynamics do their own adjustments or send the files to Henk at fastchip for adjustments)

Or if you just want a good remap in a day RSTuning in Leeds, paul has the best rep of any mapper in this country for Renault's!

  8. this. steer clear, plus i've seen a few on paul's fb where ktec's mapping has been shocking and paul has had to sort it out!

  9. Yeah i've seen a few that MWM motorsport has had to sort out on the clio's.

Mainly seems to be their custom maps for cams etc but like i said its dangerous they killed at least one clio engine that i can recall!

And the ones that aren't dangerous have been described as lazy/ rushed etc it seems that they just rush everything rather than getting it right first time, they then blame the ECU adapting to their maps is the culprit, but no one else seems to have this issue.......

  10. Please reconsider ! Buy a rstuner if you cant be dealing with the mileage.

I worry for your engine ! Hear horror stories of things going bang.

  11. Rs tuning

  12. Rs always

  13. RS tuning for me, 4hrs each way but well worth it.

As above, be silly to go anywhere else other than RST.

  15. I'd second the RSTuner its a wonderful bit of kit just for the diagnostics, its got a lot of CLIP functionallity like access to airbags, tyre pressure sensors etc etc, its how i did my stage 1 and eventually will be going for a custom map from henk after my mods are all complete! as leeds is a bit far for me!

Henk is also regarded as the best Renault mapper in europe (even paul uses his RStuner (re branded) for the mobile remote maps

  16. With Pauls own maps on it I suspect

  17. I'll be a guinea pig for this new forum to prove they aren't as bad as every one makes out.
I'm going for the 'performance pack one' which is a tweaked generic map.

P.s I'm going for a crackle map too.

  18. As i mentioned before..and everyone else seems to be confirming,
the crackle map as you call it, has far to much torque for the standard internals.

Can you afford £3000 for a blown engine?
or £800 for a shredded clutch?

  19. Relax I never said I'll be pushing past the 300 mark on torque .

  20. RStuning without a shadow of a doubt. Your foolish to take it to Ktec....... lol

  21. Make sure you put it on the same set of rollers as everyone else for a fair test.

  22. They only have one set of rollers... Which is superflow.
Quite tough ones compared apparently from a previous rolling road day there with friends.

  23. Ha, they over read like no tomorrow!

all the stage 1's there have been 40lb over that ive seen, their new clio 4 rs ran 40lb over standard renault figures and when i questioned them why they said the renault figure was a minimum figure. when i quoted renault saying it was a maximum torque figure, they didnt respond!

Ktec crackle map vids in the dark are sick!

  25. Rs tuning it is then

  26. Will.

K-tec probably won't even map it. Just stick it on their rollers and give a higher reading. Or they will just give it too much mapping and damage the engine. Either way, expect a video on facebook of your car being ragged on their rollers and if you go for the crackle map, expect another late at night.

  27. I don't like all this beef every one has with ktec, it's getting annoying... again.

Its people's opinions on them just most of them are negative. I wouldn't get annoyed about it, there's more to life.

  29. It's your car mate but i wouldnt risk it! A 2 second google reveals

And i think theres plenty of others but i would not trust them with mapping my car, your only as good as your last job.......

Personnally i'd read through the threads above and draw your own conclusions, but there's several very well respected mappers saying that their dangerous, they even have the AFR graphs, ignition values etc so you can draw your own conclusions!

Personnaly i've used k-tec before (only mail order) and their service was very good, but i would not trust them with mapping my car, especially a custom map as that is what their renowned for being bad at!

  30. Ktec are a very good company for developing off the shelf parts for RenaultSports and their mail order service is second to none ( if a little expensive ).

But if Andy Cutler is still working at Ktec my cars wouldn't go anywhere near their rollers! Been at the receiving end of that workmanship in the past.

  31. I could understand your point buddy if it was a one man on the internet crusade against Ktec, but it appears that several members have the same opinion , even more members have had their cars trashed by poor maps.

FWIW Andy Cutler is still working a KTEC.

Azagedon, why dont you like it? If they pulled their socks up in many different ways they'd not get it in the neck. They get it systematically and often from people in neutral positions.

no smoke and all that.. You've surely seen the maps people have had to correct and the bodges specialists have had to fix.

Then don't get involved with the thread, the original poster has asked for opinions on where to go, telling him to go somewhere people know aren't as good as rstuning and have given various people issues with there renaultsports over the years isn't great forum practice. Many of us have been on renaultsport forums for many years, have seen and heard first hand of the problems with k-tec, so why on earth would we recommend a forum member to use them. If your so certain there great don't post get your work done there and be happy.

  34. For the OP, KTEC don't really have the knowledge to map a meg from scratch. If you want plug and play you should be ok as I think they bought a copy of Paul (from RS Tuning)'s map.

If you want a decent custom map, you really are best to travel to Leeds. At least the drive home will be fun!

  35. Is there any where in the South that uses Paul's RS tuning 260bhp standard upgrade?

  36. there is no such thing as a standard upgrade with Pauls maps. He puts a baseline map on it and then tweaks to suit.

  37. Looks like a trip to Leeds then....

  38. Give him a call mate. He did some sort of a deal with K-tec, he can tell you what.

  39. If Belgium wasn't a 10h drive (+crossing the channel) for most of you, there is only 1 address to map your car...
My engineering team has done over 500 Megane RS 3 engines so I can assume no1 else in the world is more experienced!

  40. What's does everyone think of Henk's stage 1 chip kit?

Assume as it's genetic it's not as good as a bespoke set up from RS tuning but totally safe and better than the Renault standard one.
