knocking

hey guys I've just had my steering rack and off side swivel hub recond and both track rod ends replaced but when i go from lock to lock i get a nasty bang and sometimes crunching noise don't suppose anyone else has had the same thing and what could it be? cheers

 

sometimes its like a crunching noise but every now and then it goes with a right bang

 

i assume so it was fully recond and the mechanic doing the work said before all the play that was in the rack had gone

its not a constant thing sometimes it doesn't do it it seems reversing and going forward again seems to trigger it
