Have a pretty bad knock/rattle at slow speed over rough ground. Its got to the point where I really could do with it looking at. Would any decent garage be able to diagnose the problem or does the Megane suspension really need a Renault specialist to know what's wrong?
Any decent garage could diagnose but if you want a cost effective repair then go to a specialist for the repair. (would of done it before so have knowledge to carry out).
As above. A normal garage might claim it's something it's not and catch you out. Heading to a specialist will get a better result and probably cheaper fix.
I had the scuttle off and couldn't see anything amiss on the top mount. Would it be visible if it was knacked?
Jack the car up at the side its knocking at and have a look at the top mount from there because theres not much to look at from under the bonnet
You might be able to see if the bearing has split from the top mount causing the noise, on the other hand it could be one of many other possibly causing the noise, when you have it jack'd up check for play in the wishbone
I noticed when I fitted my cooksport springs they didn't go all the way to the enge of the bottom plate on the strut were it seats itself against which was a bit concerning, but once the weight was on it it seams to be okay. Chris is your car lowered or on std suspension?
Fully standard. Had a new steering rack from Renault but that hasn't cured it. Wondered if it was the infamous loose subframe issue but assumed if it was it would've been cured when Renault removed and replaced the rack?
I had a knocking/rattle at slow speeds especially going over speed humps from the front passenger side . . . it was the anti roll bar bushes . . .
