Am I going a bit mad? I have a K&N filter and I seem to have a can of cleaner in the garage for it from when I had one on my last car but don't I need to spray some oil on i once clean? Can't remember what I did last time?
Yeah, the cleaner will thin down the existing oil along with the dirt its trapped to allow it to all be washed away. Then once its dry you re-apply the oil. The oil is what provides the majority of the filtering on most aftermarket filters, so pretty important that you apply it.
I Had a K&N on my nissan had cleaner no oil to re oil it though. Never found it. It is available. Did not clean up very well either seemed to impregnate it with the dirty cleaner. Gave up and bought a new sparkly OE one. Same with the 265. Just got an OE one after many searches on E Bay. the genuine oe fluffy cotton ones. Not cheap Paper. Cheers Andy
