Hi everyone! I'm Piter. I've just bought Megane RS 2011 . It's my first Megane and I have a lot of questions. I'm going to use this car at track-days preferentially and that's why I'm interested in tuning. I'm going to start modifications right now, first of all I'm going to change brakes. Now I choose brake pads. What is the best for Megane?
Welcome along mate! For track I use DS1.11 on the Front pads, with Motul RBF600 Fluid and it works very well - but I have a mk2. I know Mk3 track users who say the CL Rc6 pad is also great. Either the DS1.11 or the RC6 with uprated brake fluid and braided (HEL / Goodridge etc_) brake lines make a huge improvement to the brakes and allow for like 15-20mins track use with no issues.
This is good to look at - compares all the Fedoro compounds. http://www.ferodoracing.com/products/car-racing/racing-brake-pads/ds1-11/ Shows you how the perform, when hot and cold.
Big thanks! I've already thought about Ferodo. Brembo and EBC are also at my list. I've heard a lot of good things about EBC at the other forums. What do you think about EBC yellowstuff for using in the city and on track?
I found ebc yellow stuff and improvement over standard pads. For proper performance there will be better pads out there.
Thank you for your opinion! I've ordered EBC yellow stuff today. But I'm not sure they are good to be used in the city, I were choosing from red and yellow. We'll see soon if it was a good choice.
Mine was for day to day driving, alot better cold intial bite compared to the oem spec brembos pads ive got now, and better intial bite when brakes warmed up.
Welcome. Lovely car. IMO - Standard pads are great for general use - I'd recommend Mintex M1144 (or whatever the modern equivalent is) or Ferodo 2500 or RC5+ for performance street driving and occasional tracking. Track use the 1.11s or RC6 for sure. I also love Pagid RS29 although i haven't tried them on the Megane. RS29 to me feel like halfway between RC5+ and RC6 but last for an exceptionally long time. Downside is £££ Don't forget the fluid - RBF600 > SuperBlue(Typ200) Yellows are TERRIBLE on the track... from a 182 to a 335i and various cars in-between... just terrible.
