225 Is there a trick to removing the gear selector mechanism?

  1. I'm trying to remove the selector actuator to sort my non centring gear lever. I have removed the four bolts on top and the 14mm one on the side but it only coles prt-way up and then feeles like it's catching on something. Have I missed a vital step?

  2. Did you make sure you were in neutral before starting to disconnect everything? The selector unit can only be removed if the box is in neutral.

  3. Yes, definitely in neutral

  4. I had the same issue. I disconnected everything for the mechanism before removing as that was holding it in place.

  5. are you sure you have removed the correct locking bolt to the actuator?...this is a classic sign of the locking bolt not being removed..bolt on gearbox casing.

not the bolt with the green arrow,,,the bolt you need in where the red arrow points, unseen, under the black hydraulic hose..

  7. Yes - the 14mm bolt...
