Is it normal to change cam belt at 46k miles?

  1. I'm going to see a Trophy tomorrow night. Its got plenty of history and has 76k miles which is backed up by a vosa mot check.

The lad selling says it had belts and pulleys done at 48k miles. Is that likely to be the cam belt or could that be something else?

    cheers Simon

  2. Could be the cambelt. Goes on years aswell as mileage.

  3. sound are there any other belts and pulleys?

  4. Auxillary belt.

    When was the cambelt changed?

I'm doing mine again this year as it will be 5 years since it's been done even though its only done 30k.

  5. Water pump as well ..

  6. And the cam end caps ...

  7. Got the receipt for my cambelt at 48k when I bought the car.

  8. My Megane 225 had 3,000 miles on it and I had the cambelt changed because the car was 6 years old.

Wouldn't say it's a bad thing for it to have been done if it was done by time not mileage.
