265 Ipod Album Artwork not showing (R.Link)

Discussion in 'Electrical & Interior - Security, ICE, Wiring Loom' started by The Mighty Clam, Jan 4, 2017.

  1. Hi all, I received a new ipod nano (7th gen) from Miss Clam for Xmas (which was a pleasant and unexpected surprise ). I transferred my music across from my older (6th gen Nano) and plugged it in as normal via USB.

Problem is the album artwork is not displaying on the r.link monitor, but if I am playing a song and simply unplug the USB and plug it back in then it comes up. If I switch albums I just get a blank space, but again, pulling the USB in and out makes it appear every single time. Obviously I can't do this all the time, anyone else got this issue or a solution? (I have checked in the settings and all the relevant tick boxes for artwork to display are ticked, and have been unticked and re-ticked just in case.

    Cheers all

  2. I've no direct experience with the ipods, but is the artwork storied in the metadata, or as separate files within the folders?

I run my music through a very small USB drive, but I make sure the covers are embedded in the metadata and I never have problems with them displaying correctly.

Maybe just an avenue for you to check?

  3. Have you done the r-link USB update ??

  4. Not via USB, but through the SD card, yes.

  5. Sorry Xanda, I have no clue when in comes to computery musicy stuff, but the new Ipod works fine on my other half's aftermarket Pioneer sat nav system - plays fine and artwork is displayed.

What update are we talking about here - is it a newly released R.link update? I updated via SD when I bought the car mid October, has there been another one since then?

    Cheers

  6. I updates since then bud - my trophy was having none of it with my iPhone to start with and Renault told me that was just how it was - useless cvnts !!

  7. Well I've put the SD card in the laptop and logged into the R Link store and everything is up to date. Put it back in and it's still doing the same thing - not displaying the album artwork until you unplug & plug back in the ipod USB every time. Looks like it's going to have to be returned to the shop which is a shame as it was a very thoughtful present (my current ipod nano works fine with the R Link but the screen is broken. Music still works fine, but screen is blank).

Unless anyone has any bright ideas?

  8. Have you got a USB stick that you can transfer some of the music onto?

If so, do that and then try that in the car to see if the artwork displays. If so, well I'm not sure, but it may rule out the ipod as causing the issue. Just an idea.

  9. Turn the stereo off enjoy the sounds from the exhaust and engine
