Basically I'm a Tool and managed to delete my iPhone backup from iTunes and then being an even bigger tool I restored my iPhone as a new phone. Obviously all my contacts and stuff has gone :-(. I've tried to recover the deleted backup with file recovery software to no avail.

What are my options? Or am I stuffed?

  2. Dont suppose you used iCloud ?

Sadly no, I was in the process of setting it up which is why I'd deleted my PC backup as I wanted to free up the hd space and use iCloud instead. Stupidly and I'm still bemused at why I did this, but I managed to forget to set the iCloud up before I reset the phone.

Stupid on an epic level. I'm putting it down to being a little tired after have no sleep for nearly a day.

  4. It's a long shot... but if you're on a windrow 7 machine there is an option to view older files in the properties of the folder where the backup was stored. This is only available in ultimate version of Windows 7.

Another option is to do a system restore of Windows to a previous point (before you deleted the backup) and see if it restores you backup?

If those don't work I'm afraid you're stuffed! For your contacts I would advise to setup a Google mail account and store them there as them when you sync that account those contacts are pulled from there...

  5. I'd try the system restore - you can never really delete anything!!!

Thanks to all of you, unfortunately the system restore didn't bring back any files and I have the poverty spec windows 7 home so the other idea didn't work. I'll just have to start fresh, teach me a lesson for being too complacent. Thanks again for your input.

Now, off for a walk to calm down.

  7. Stupid question maybe but have you checked the recycle bin?
