Having owned the 225 for a few months now I've finally got round to fitting my aftermarket HU and iPod connection, also have some Eibachs sitting in the shed waiting to be fitted so I thought it was time to start tidying the car up a little. Got a few things on my to do list, bulbs etc but the main one was to sort the tired looking interior plastics. I also wanted to tidy the door handles, (not interior but didn't want to start another thread) So, interior, as you can see the silver was worn and looking rather tatty: First things first, sanded it all right back to black and then carefully painted 3 coats of primer with sanding inbetween: Next onto the colour layer, had my colour code made up into a can for me, again did a few layers ready for a few coats of lacquer: And then carefully fitted it back together, here are the final results. Need to get a proper HU surround next though, maybe also spray a few extra bits but I'm happy so far: Moving onto the handles, same as the interior but had to spray on the car with lots of careful prep and masking, although I didn't do any lacquer: Happy for now
Yeah dead easy. Just remove your head unit and tray and you'll see 4 little screws, undo them and it just pulls out. The glovebox one just slides to the left, takes some strength, I slipped and put a hole in my thumb!
Do the surround plastics at the bottom of the gear stick and it would finish it of nicely, looks good btw
What silver did you use for the outside? Somebody's done my dash and door pulls gloss black, think I'll extend it to the glovebox strip and internal door handles at some point.
Hmm have debated that but don't want to go ott, maybe try and seperare the gearstick surround and do that, maybe my dial surrounds to?
