250 Interior fans not working

Discussion in 'Electrical & Interior - Security, ICE, Wiring Loom' started by jack250, Jul 1, 2018.

  1. Alright chaps. My interior fans aren’t blowing anywhere near as hard as they should. I’m getting all the noise as if they are I full whack but only a little bit of air coming through. Any ideas? Cheers

  2. cabin filter probably blocked, proper bitch job, if doing yourself buy the soft flexible reno item and not firm aftermarket as you’ll need to snap them to fit into tiny space

  3. Ive just watched a vid on YouTube. Fuckin hell. Gotta be done in this heat though. Getting out the car at the min dripping in sweat

  4. Bit brutal in these temps but good sense achievement if get it right

  5. I haven’t tried this yet as yesterday it came on and was working fine but gradually got worse as time went on (around 30min) then went back to a low flow. I turned it off then back on after 5min and it worked again? Any ideas?

  6. So the issue continues... when I first get in the car the fans work fine. Air coming through as should on all settings. Once I’ve driven for around 10mins they lose pressure. If I turn them off and leave for around 10min it’s works again and then the cycle starts over, frustratingly.

After doing some research into the symptoms I’m leaning towards a faulty heater blower motor resistor.

Has anyone had a similar issue to me or had their resistor changed for the blower system? Any help much appreciated. Cheers

  7. From quite a bit of research into this issue it’s looking like the blower motor unit might be shagged. This is a full dash out job.

Now I know this won’t be straight forward but was wondering how hard it is to get the dash out? And will using something like a Haynes manual be handy for the job?
    Cheers

  8. I seem to have ecxactly the same issue as well, cabin filter did not change much.
Have you by any chance already found out more?

  9. Big job mate. Whole dash out and new heater motor. I managed to get a second hand motor from a low mileage car. A new one is around £300!
Mark Black @ Midland Renault Specialist did the work and did a top job. Maybe give him a bell and try to source the part yourself mate. Like I said, horrible job but the whole system works great for me again.

  10. I must have jinxed myself yesterday by saying the above comment "whole system works great". Got in the car today and now the AC fan doesn't seem to be coming on in the engine bay. What could this be? Cheers

    Low gas/AC fault?

AC fan is the same as the rad fan and should come on when AC button is pressed, But if the AC has no gas or is showing a fault it wont kick in.

  12. When all the work was carried out the other week the gas was topped up at the same time and the machine checked for leaks also.
Would a fault reader pick it up?

Im not sure if it would, Mine never showed any AC codes in all the years its not worked, Best bet is an AC guy

  14. Yeah I think I’m going to have to take it to an ac professional to take a look

  15. What was your outcome in the end?

  16. Heater blower unit was knackered mate. Pig of a job. Whole dash had to come out!! Bought the unit second hand on eBay. Was meant to be circa £400!!
