insuring 2 cars?

  1. How does this work? Reason I ask is I'm pretty sure you can only use 1 lot of ncd per car rather than the driver.

EG; I'm insured on the meg and have 5yrs and several months ncd. There's still 6 months left on this policy so I don't want to throw away that 6 months discount I've earnt so far this year but I can't use it if I end the policy as it's only 6 months. Problem is If I buy another car can I use those 5yrs ncd on it or would I have to start from 0 again?

See what I'm tryna say

  2. if your stopping with the same insurer sometimes they will offer you a gesture for example 3yrs on your new car. I have a few cars but my others are classed as classics.... which is really cheap and you don't build ncb, so if it's an older car your thinking of then classic insurance is the way to go.

  3. You can only use the NCD on one policy yea mate

Can't see what your trying to do tho :/

Are you selling the car you currently insure ?

And buying another one ? Why not just change the car on the current policy ?

  4. I can't change the car on the current policy unfortunately. I called flux today and the broker I'm with won't touch evo's. Flux offered me a quote with a different broker but they only wanted 3k for the year on a 10k car!!

The eventual plan is to sell my current car (that I use the ncd on) but In the mean time I want to keep using it till it's sold at the same time as using the new one. I guess what I could do is approach the new insurer and get a quote on how much it will be to add the meg to the new cars policy - just temp till it's sold.

I guess that 6 months ncd I've earned this year is gone tho :worried:

  5. Speak to greenlight insurance (Tony) or Paul at Need2insure, those two will help you out.

  6. What car are you looking to move onto mj? If its an evo I'd try pace ward. I've been looking at doing the swap recently however I'm still getting quotes of £1500 for an evo

  7. Cheers Jonathan. will try them.

It is baz. i thought flux would do me a good deal being a specialist but confused come up with the best price at a steal! It's only abit more than what i pay on the meg with mods declared so be rude not to change

  8. The meg is £600 for me now so a bit of a price jump for an evo. I test drove a few around the new year as I had the funds to swap and they are epic cars wouldn't fancy one as a daily though

  9. multi car is 2 or more polices under one but with 2 policy's usually earning a discount on the second, third etc

So for me i ensure the meg and the 200 with aviva which looks like the image bellow you can choose what cover you like for each vehicle. I choose fully comp, protected claims, legal cover, curtsey car, upto 15K in each car and £150 excess on each car.

You earn no claim on each vehicle as opposed to one policy, so claiming on one won't affect the other.

As for years no claims, i wouldn't worry too much as you can only claim what you can prove and many only recognise 5 years and i'm told anything else gives little or more benefit.

Not strictly true mate. I have 3 cars using the same no claims bonus at the minute. You can mirror it over you just have to ask them.

  13. Greenlight will mirror your NCB over to another policy providing you are insured with them

  14. Try pace ward, my mate's got his 2 6s on one policy and its about a grand I think.
