I usually love my car but it is causing me problems lately. I had a problem with the n/s rear lights. My dad and I thought it was the earth was not working properly so sorted another one but still problems. Then we realised it was the light connection and we sorted that and all was well. Next day the Mrs drives the car and on the dashboard the hand brake light and stop light keeps flashing up. On a 2 mile journey it flashes up about 20 times but only for a millisecond. It also does it when stationary. I have undone the earth point we put in but still it persists. Please help me NOT burn my car.
Are you sure the rear light connector is working correctly? If this is all you have changed and the fluid level is good then that's where I'd look.
The brake fault light is fluid level or pads nearly done, can't remember which had same problem on my 182
The words... "pretty sure" tells me you haven't checked, so do that. Other things would be handbrake lever not correctly disengaged. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
Had same light come on a couple times last month, my brake fluid level was fine and my pads were OK, so I took it to auto electrician and it never came up afterwards, think there a prob with my wiring somewhere Sent from my VIVO using Tapatalk
Check the little switch on the handbrake lever also.. mine would do this over rough ground and it was loose!
Now the Mrs goes out with oldest daughter but not in the Megane and receives a phone call from next door to say that all the lights are on inside the car including dash and stereo and all exterior light. I am off now to buy some petrol and matches
Have you checked the fuse tray underneath the battery? water gets in causing all sorts of electrical shite, its one of the worst designs ever
Hi sunnylunn I have a fuse box to the right hand side of my battery and yes we sorted this a few weeks back.
I was going to suggest this next. Do Halford still offer to check your battery for free? If the petrol and matches are considered a solution this early, maybe a Megane is not the car for you
I have been told that the battery is now dead as all the lights and stereo was on for god knows how long. But maybe I might need a new battery anyway. Thanks
My dad put some brake fluid in and charged up the battery and all ok now Perhaps that will teach me a lesson about checking things before I have a rant. Thank you all
