Hybrid turbo VS. Upgraded turbo

  1. Hello every body.. am going for a turbo upgrade for my megan rs 265.. and confused about choosing between a hybrid turbo or upgraded normal bigger turbo replacing the original.. what to choose and from which brand? What other items should be tunned with it as i read alot of ppl mentioning injectors & compressors. Any openion from an expert or any one who have tried those turbos? Thank you

  2. Do you have any modifications already ? I would suggest if you dont that you start with a better intercooler , or you are going to be adding an even bigger hairdrier to the equation and not have adequate cooling

  3. You'd need a different manifold for a different turbo. So your costs multiply massivly.

  4. Similar, not sure whether it's worth hybrid or just keep 250 turbo. I'm at 320ish and not seen that many standard Meg 250 engines go above 330-340 anyway even though we know they are good for 360....especially as it's no more torque than I have already anyway.

  5. If the engine is not forged go fir the hybrid. If it s forged gtx2876 or gtx3071 ar 63.
I won t go more than 340 hp on standard engine. The torque might do damage to conrods etc. Good luck

Stock 250 Engine will do 360 and is what I'm aiming for with my Hybrid. If i do decide to eventually forge it then i will see how far the stock engine can be pushed.

I'm sure there have been a couple of Meganes on the Continent that have seen 380bhp on stock internals as well

  7. Still have your original 250 turbo Jamie?

Yes, Its still on the car mate

Hybrid isn't getting fitted for a while as there are a few other bits i want to get to compliment it

  9. I'm planning to hybrid a 225 turbo, I've already sorted the fueling so I'm hoping it will take me over 340 bhp.....

  10. There are some going up to and above 360hp. Autotech, a well known Swedish tuner, has a hybrid tuning that delivers around 320-325whp which should be slightly more than 360 at crank. http://atechmotor.com/images/Hybrid.jpg
