I bought my car with a 265 turbo already fitted & been mapped by RS Tuning to 290bhp which I'm guessing is a safe limit, but if I buy a hybrid turbo will I see much more gains or is forged the way to go first & buy a big turbo?
Hybrid means so many things. What you have is a td04-15t. Its quite a safe map that. I dont know what else you have on the car though. You need to find the bottleneck - if there is one , and remove / reduce the effect. I would be looking at forging the engine though really , getting a different manifold and then getting a turbo capable of producing bigger power.
Cheers mate, here's a list of the spec, I rang RS Tuning & they said 10k to get 400bhp but I think that was going from a standard R26
10k f#@* that.. I'm building my own for that power and it will be fraction.. I'm so glad I do everything myself not paying labour 10k would get you 700bhp+ out a Audi s2 engine haha
I think I'll have to start building them for people after mines done.. as it wouldn't be hard to undercut that price lol
10k im assuming that was with a big turbo rather than hybrid as thats 3k straight away. 1k Clutch, 1k Fuel system, 5k engine build. Forged Rods & Pistons - 1k Cams - 700 Injectors - 250 Valves - 350 machining etc 200/300 Labour etc etc Im on a hybrid turbo running 330bhp/360ftlbs built it my self for under 5k if i add cams i can run 370/380bhp
Yes mate that was with a big turbo, told them I wanted minimum 400bhp. I wish I could build an engine but I can just about change a fuse. I'm one of the people that has to pay for everything haha
id say 3k is aiming high for turbo.. ive bought a gt3076r brand new for £800 in past.. that would flow prob 500bhp and seen gt28's for similar thats more a 400bhp turbo.. and even if you bought ktecs manifold that would be £700..
