Howdy! Dutch 250 owner

  1. Howdy!

New to these forums, but already like it. I used to be pretty active on Meganesport.net, but that seemingly suffered a silent dead and couldn't get my subscription renewed for almost 1.5 years.. Time to move on!

Anyhow, I've been driving and owning only Renaults since I got my drivers license. Just a little story here!

It all started off with a Clio II 1.6 16V Dynamique; feisty little car as my first! As I am Dutch and we grow pretty tall these days, it had to make place for something bigger; a Megane II (ph2) 1.6 16V Business. Very comfortable and decent car. But as I have my father's genes when it comes to cars (always wanting something new, more expensive, and faster), I only had that one for a mere 5 months (barely put 5k miles on the clock, heh).

This was all due to me spotting a Megane II (ph2) 2.0T GT at my local dealership. The 165HP 2.0T petrol version. I made a test drive at and fell instantly in love with turbo engines; it just drove so much better than the old 1.6 N/A engines. Anyways, it was practically a straight-on swap with my previous Megane as it was still so young and new :tongueout:.

As I have been a car freak for my whole life (I started racing professional remote-controlled gas-powered RC cars at the age of 12, couldn't wait to work on "real" cars!), I also bought the GT with some "modability" in mind. The F4RT was mostly similar to the 225's engine (internals, injectors, and turbo different), but it allowed for my first mods anyways. Engine-related, I placed a 3" Ktec exhaust, K-tec intercooler, dump-valve, and modded the engine bay to fit a BMC CDA induction kit. Exterior wise I put on the R26R spoiler, Eibach lowering springs, and 20mm spacers all-around. In the end, I ended up cranking 194 WHP out of it (cal by Henk from Fastchip) - it came very close to stock WHP figures of 225's on the same Dyno, quite impressive for the 10T turbo on the 165-engine.

It ended up looking like this:

I wanted to move on to fit 225 injectors + turbo, but then something else happened.. My local dealership had a Megane III RS250 for sale (used). As I came down there to discuss how much the 225 parts would cost and knew the guys well. I joked that I'd take it for a day of driving. Funnily, they said sure, no problem! And next day I got my hands on the keyless-keys . Probably don't have to explain it to you lot, but I was instantly sold. The driving position, steering feedback, handling, engine! One week later it was on my own and standing on my driveway.. oops

It's a 2010 Megane III RS 250, non-cup. Fortunatly, it has the 18" wheels, Bi-xenon turning headlights, sportmonitor, and the Arkamys soundsystem (the latter isn't the greatest though..). No Recaro's either, but I use it very often as a daily so they'd only get worn out very fast.

And as with my GT, I have been changing a whole lot on the 250! But I will put that in a project thread  Little sneak-peak..
