How to disable airbag

Discussion in 'Electrical & Interior - Security, ICE, Wiring Loom' started by richlowndes, Sep 4, 2016.

  1. I am trying to disable to the passenger airbag on my R26 (so that I can put a child seat in). There is no switch on the end of the dashboard. The manual says there should be one, but it's not there. Is there any other way of disabling it?
    Many thanks

  2. There's definitely one there. Can't remember which side it's on.

  3. I can't see one on mine either there is a plastic blanking plug drivers side

I wonder if on the r26 it's not an option with the recaro seats

  4. Pretty sure theres not one with cars equipped with Trendlines. I didn't have the switch on my 175 sport hatch.
I'm not sure the Recaros are meant for child seats, of its because they are not ISOFIX(?) Renault decided not to give the option for front child seats?
    There would be 2 options.
You will have the wiring behind the side dash panel. You could get a switch and then activate it via Clip (the airbag warning light would be on until you activate it once you have fitted the switch)
Or you could take the glovebox out and unplug the airbag, fitting resistors into the loom so the rest still work. I'm not saying this is a great option at all.

  5. Thanks all. I'll see if I can get hold of the wiring and a switch. Has anyone done this job before? Thanks. Richard
