  1. Hi All,

Just looking for someone who has previously done the job before, I am looking at replacing my control arm on my 225, steelers want £200 "discounted price" to replace it... 2 hours job they recon.

Has anyone done it themselves? I have plenty of spanners, jacks and bags of enthusiasm, is it a home job?

    Thanks.

  2. How come your changing it? If its just a worn ball joint you can get replacements, although the stealers say its all one part and cant be changed, same as the hubs!

  3. My car is 12 years old, and it will never of had it's arm replaced, so it's quite rusty and old, the rubbers are complete shot, I figured its easier to buy a new one and worry about Power bushes in 3 years time, then messing about with them now on a rusty old arm.

  4. Refurb The arm with sandpapper and a grinder and buy The parts to IT. Cost 50 euro or less

  5. Thanks for your advise, I've already put an order in with Renault now for a new one, I have no idea of its history anyway, i.e is it slighty bent or anything I have no idea so I'm happy to spend a few pennies and buy new, I would just like to save 200 quid and fit it myself if I can.

  6. Yes you can i have just Done IT but i refurb IT. Hard work and takes about 1 H each side. Dont forget to split The cross bar under The Engine. Thats for The last bolt that you need to get out.

  7. Follow The half FAQ of swivel bearing replacement

  8. Cheers pal, I've read somewhere that the some sort of support strut needs removing so you can drop the arm, until I have a go at the job I have no idea what i'm talking about, but is that true?

  9. Yes you need to drop The suspension thats The 3 bolt i Was Talking about.
