Went to use my horn the other day and nothing. I reckon when I had the belts done last month they might have knocked the connector off or something but as I have no idea really, looking for some advice. Can you get to the horns without taking off the bumper to check the wiring? And is there anything else worth checking? If I can't fix it easily, then I will just take it back to the garage and get them to fix what they broke!
Ok, took it to the garage and they said that the horn unit had packed in! Brilliant. Also said that you can take the front grilles off to get to it. Does anyone know how to remove the grills without damaging them?
I have been told that it's not the case, and that you can get the grills off without taking the bumper off.
Take it that no-one has any idea on how to remove the grills without taking the bumper off? Also, an OEM horn is costing me £48+VAT!
My grills come off without the bumper but that's because someone broke all the clips before I had it! Must admit it makes jobs easier! Still think taking the bumper off would be easier mind.
Take the wheel arch liner out Ignore that comment, I'm thinking of the Clio horn not the meg, Bumper off!
Just to update this a bit, I got the mechanic to get the Bosch horn from eurocarparts to see if it would be an OEM fit. Turns out that it isn't and would require some re-wiring to get it working. As I am a bit of an OEM guy, I am going for a Renault original part. Didn't fancy getting the ecp horn, getting it wired in only to find out it made my car sound like a clown car! Don't fancy trying to tell someone they are driving like a cock with a horn that might as well come off a kiddies bike
Got the new horn from Renault fitted and I am so glad to have it back. Felt a bit naked not being able to inform people of their amazing driving skills And you can remove the upper grills from the front bumper without having to remove the bumper. Simply use a small piece of thin plastic to pry up the bottom of the grill, unpopping the clips at the bottom and then just pull it forward. Didn't take any pictures which would have helped, but there are two clips along the bottom of the grill that you can unhook. If you try from the top of the grill you are guaranteed to break something.
would the clio horn and the megane horn be different because the horn on my daughters clio 200 is alot louder/better than my 175 dci horn ???
