Hopefully soon to be R26 owner.

  1. Evening all.
I'm planning on getting an R26 in the next few weeks and hoped I could get some good advice from you guys who know best.

I've had a few RS in the past....All Clios unfortunately (or fortunately is suppose as now I want to progress to the megane). Currently I'm driving an Abarth 500 Esseesse, I love the turbo and missed it on my clios so that is my thinking behind buying the megane:-)

Are there any important things that I should be aware of when I go looking?

I have seen a few good ones advertised but I'm also tempted by one that unfortunately is a Cat C on insurance! Going to look at that tomorrow.....is it wise to buy what in reality is/was a right off?

Any advice you can give or help with will be appreciated.

    Cheers

    Ashley

  2. Make sure the belt has been done, that the windows work, steering self centres, no noises from front suspension or drive train amongst the more common things you'd look at with any car.

I personally wouldn't buy a cat c, not when there is plenty of choice, but if it's been repaired properly then it may well be okay.

  3. Cheers guys.
Tbh I do a lot of miles so need/want something with low mileage.

I'd normally not even consider a cat c either but from what I'm told this car was apparently only paint damage. No crash or anything.....someone poured some kind of paint stripper all over so needed a full re - spray. If that's genuine then I have no issue buying it....and it's only done 36k, all belts done, clutch, flywheel, brakes etc all new within last 5000 miles and is stupidly cheap.
